The Lateral Dry Bag by Outdoor Research. The most rugged dry bags have seams that are radio frequency welded for maximum strength and waterproofness. The roll-top closure ensures the waterproof seal. With a clear window that runs lengthwise across the bag, being able to view the bags contents in a deluge is key to finding the one piece of gear you want without getting everything else wet. The horizontal construction enables you to find gear more easily with a wider opening and a more shallow depth. Compression straps, two on the ends and two around the body, cinch bulky loads down small.

"Durable & effective" 08/22/11

This is an excellent choice for those who strap their sleeping mats on the outside of their packs. In my case I chose the 10L size for my Exped DownMat 9 which is particularly sensitive to water exposure and this has not let me down in river crossing submersion and torrential downpours.The material is durable and have no qualms about tossing my sack down on rough ground with this strapped to the bottom.The window is a nice feature.This would be the perfect bag IF it had an additional compression strap in the middle. As it stands now my mat bulges in the center and would benefit from a strap there to compress it.
