The Osprey Women's Verve 5 Pack is a hydration pack for mountain biking, trail running and weekend day hikes. The Verve 5 is the smallest in the women's specific hydration pack series by Osprey, allowing you to get onto the trails quickly with water and not much else. The pack comes equipped with a 2L Hydraulics™ reservoir that slips into its very own direct access sleeve at the backpanel. An extra layer, perhaps a snack and first aid goes into the main section quickly and easily. Osprey Framesheet
Whether connected to a peripheral frame on a big load carrier or as a standalone suspension on a day pack, a well-designed framesheet effectively spreads and transitions the loads across the entire body to the harness and hipbelt. With different material and stay options Osprey can make sure each individual pack has the right load carry for its intended use.

OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mighty Minimalist! I really dig this pack. Its my half day hike pack or even whole day hike if the weathers not too terrible. I've had it for years and I've accumulated larger day packs but this is still my go to since I only really pack the essentials like a shell, snacks, first aid. Its light weight and the mesh panel makes it real easy to stow random items when on the go. I have ran with it and its pretty comfortable but if you're looking for a day hiking pack and you're not all about being efficient with space and squeezing things in like Tetris, I'd get a larger pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great size. Just big enough to carry a few things, but just small enough to not get in the way. I typically will take this pack with me on bike rides longer than a couple hours so that I not only have water accessible whenever I want but also so that I can store away a few layers and gels or bars. I've also found that if I go on a day hike this pack works great if the weather is going to be pretty consistent throughout the day and don't need to pack extra layers. Definitely happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone who just likes to carry the essentials on day adventures whether it be a trail run, bike ride, or hike.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smaller than I expected I had to return this one since it was smaller than I expected. The pockets and quick stuff area just don't make sense for the day hiking and biking trips that I want to make. It would be a good pack if you really aren't planning on bringing a lot and want a spot to store your coat, but I will be trying to find something else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good hydration pack for trail-running; fits comfortably and has enough storage. I use this primarily for trail running. The Osprey Verve 5 pack is slightly heavier than the Camelbak I was previously using, but it still fit well on my back and for the most part was comfortable. I like that it has two straps, so it doesn't bounce at all. ,,The main reason I chose to switch to this Osprey pack was because my Camelbak's tube was chafing my neck, and the Osprey Verve's tube is enclosed in the shoulder strap, so that problem is solved. The only downside is that the Osprey's water bladder has a stiff back, and it bothered my lower back while running. I put in my Camelbak's bladder in instead and it's now much lighter and perfect for me while trail running. ,,There is plenty of room to store everything I need while on a 2-hour trail run, and I love the pocket on the shoulder strap to store my gels/bars so I don't have to stop and take off my pack when I need to refuel. ,,With the exception of the water bladder, I am very pleased with the Osprey Verve 5.
