The Osprey Women's Kyte 46 Pack is a versatile hiking pack for short overnight or weekend backpacking adventures. The Kyte series is the women's version of the ever-popular Kestrel series, designed to fit the build of a woman while still maintaining all the features like Stow-On-The-Go™ and integrated raincover. The 46 is the larger of the two sizes, so you can go on a solo overnighter, or share gear between yourself and a friend on a weekend trip. The lower compartment provides easy access to your sleeping bag while the sleeping pad straps secure your bed cushion to the outside of the pack. The external sleeve makes the Kyte hydration compatible and zippered hipbelt pockets provide easy access to pocket knife, compass, or a small camera.

Osprey Airscape

Osprey Airscape
Osprey's AirScape™ mesh covered ridge foam backpanels set a new standard in the industry. With its ability to keep the weight close, provide cushion, allow ventilation and add load carry is quite a list of needs from this unassuming backpanel. It successfully accomplished all of that in a way that allows it to be used in the large gear hauling packs and lightweight day hiking packs.

Osprey Peripheral Frame

Osprey Peripheral Frame
Peripheral frame was a departure from the norm many years ago and it’s still the foundation of our gear hauling packs. A wire frame runs along the outside of the backpanel directly connecting the upper load lifters and the central core of the pack to the hipbelt to transition and spread the load. Allowing natural torsional movement, effective adjustable torsos, and different load range and backpanel builds makes this suspension design truly innovative.

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely pleased!! I searched sometime for a Ruck Pak and did my homework, Osprey was my #1 choice but finding an Osprey within my budget was a little difficult! I stumbled on Moosejaw and was pleasantly surprised at what I found!! I found my Ruck!!! It was like Christmas :) great price, perfect color, great size and was in stock! Ordered and within a week my package arrived at my door! I immediately opened the recycled box :) and found my new Ruck!!! It is everything it said it would be and more!! I am extremely pleased with the whole process with Moosejaw and highly recommend them!! Thank you!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My do everything backpack The Kyte is by far my favorite backpacking pack at Osprey because it is a quiver of one for me. I use this pack from everything from week long backpacking trips to climbing in the desert. The 46L is large enough since I tend to have minimal gear for backpacking. And I love the durability and side access for big days and heavy loads while climbing at Indian Creek. It's the perfect blend between lightweight yet durable. I am also 5'10" around 145 lb and find it difficult for backpacks to fit me properly. Osprey's highly adjustable torso lengths are a huge gold star in my book and the Kyte S/M which is the larger of the two sizes fits me like a glove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of space and very light!! I bought this as a gift for my 19 years old daughter so she could go to a backpacking trip in Europe. She spent three weeks, and she had plenty of space to put everything she needed in this backpack. She was very happy and loved it. My daughter has a small frame (although very athletic) and was able to carry the bag, full, with no problems at all. There were plenty of compartments to organize and separate the different things she brought with her. Construction of the bag is very sturdy. I think it was a great investment and hope she can use it lots of other times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pack I bought this pack for my girlfriend (5'1" 110 lbs). So far so good, she is an inexperienced backpacker and was frustrated on her first trip because she used a travelers backpack. I convinced her to give it another try and we ordered her this back pack. We ordered the extra small pack, it fit well and held up during a quick weekend trip. This pack completely changed her outlook on backcountry hiking and camping.,,,,I have the Oprey Kestrel and this backpack is the exact same design. She was able to store everything she needed with ease and comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Size, Great Comfort! Used this backpack on a 2 week Europe backpacking trip. I pack lightly in general, but I had plenty of room for all of my stuff. It was a good size for my carry-on for my flight, so I didn't have to check it & worry about lost or broken luggage. The rain cover is included, which was AWESOME! It rained quite a bit on the trip and nothing in my pack got wet.I was able to carry all of my stuff on some day hikes in places we couldn't find lockers with no problem. It was so comfortable! I barely felt it on my back. My friend had a different pack, don't want to name names, but she was definitely struggling carrying her stuff. Though, I'm not sure if it was because of the pack, or if it was because it wasn't fitted properly...I recommend this pack x1000!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from try an airporter cover or duffel bag cover for flights Sorry I'm writing this "review" in lieu of the ability to add a comment to a review. Osprey makes shell bags that backpacks can go into. The airporter bag has just one zipper and you can use a regular TSA approved lock on that. We used a more generic duffel bag with the same result just poorer fit. We realized we were going to have that non-lockable, all-these-open-pockets issue on a plane, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Pack Stores it all! When it arrived, I took it out for a test run at Devil's Tower. It held a 70 meter rope, harness, helmet, water bottle, and other essential gear with out being a beast to haul around. It is well balanced for steep uphill hikes. I like the fact that I can now carry around enough climbing gear without relying on my hubby to do all the heavy loading. I am an equal partner in the game now!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good pack I bought this pack for my wife and she loves it! she never had a nice pack and once she got this she defiantly likes to go out to the wood a lot more. it has enough room to keep her supplied for a weekend but cont hold too much weight to bog her down. all in all i think this is a good pack and i love the way osprey makes their product and who cant love a lifetime warranty!
