Osprey Airscape

Osprey Airscape
Osprey's AirScape™ mesh covered ridge foam backpanels set a new standard in the industry. With its ability to keep the weight close, provide cushion, allow ventilation and add load carry is quite a list of needs from this unassuming backpanel. It successfully accomplished all of that in a way that allows it to be used in the large gear hauling packs and lightweight day hiking packs.

Osprey Custom Molding

Osprey Custom Molding
When the loads get heavy, a supportive and effective hipbelt can support that weight. Osprey custom heat molds their hipbelt to you, eliminating hotspots, chaffing and bruising. This combines the best of a stiff, load bearing hipbelt with the cushioned comfort you need most when trekking with all your gear.

OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good First Pack I've just finished a 1month trip backpacking through Portugal. This was my first trip. And my first backpack. I love my backpack. YOU CAN FIT SO MUCH STUFF IN HERE. I was concerned about the hip belt having insufficient padding, but that ended up being a nonissue (at least so far, on a short trip with not a lot of stuff). I did find that the arm straps rub a little bit, and actually caused bruising for me after a day of hauling about 30lbs uphill. Although I wish they were a little more padded, that also could have been caused by my inexperience with packing properly. (... im figuring it out as I go..). All in all, I'm quite satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent mid-weight pack: comfortable & convenient. If you're getting a pack, get an Osprey! I bought this pack for expedition mountaineering in Nepal, because it's lightweight, crammed with useful features when you are out on the trail for many weeks, could comfortably carry a maximum load of 15kg, and was viable as a high-altitude summit pack.,,I've done lots of remote, heavy multi-day backpacking around the world, and nowadays only have Osprey packs. Like everything in the world, no one thing is perfect all the time. DEFINITELY closely follow the weight-carrying specifications provided by Osprey. When I go over 20kg, I have learnt to take the heavy-weight capacity Xenon.,,I love how the Osprey crampon bag and camera pouch attach so conveniently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack! I tried many packs on in an REI store and this was the only one that felt right on me, then I went online to Moosejaw and bought the pack! ;-) It's very easy to adjust it to fit my back just right! The shoulder straps are connected to a sturdy flap with velcro that slides inside a pocket so you can adjust the straps up and down. The shoulder and hip padding is very comfortable and both are easy to adjust the length. The front panel opens up nicely so you can grab what you need without unloading everything from the top. The flap that separates the sleeping bag compartment is easy to unbuckle so you can use the entire volume of the bag. Great material and stitching is very sturdy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holy Cow This Backpack is Cool This backpack holds an enormous amount of stuff without being uncomfortable. There are so many places to clip and stow extras outside of the main compartment, I've literally never gotten it up to full capacity. Don't be discouraged from using it for a smaller trip though, it isn't awkward at all. Every time I use it, I find another cool feature that makes life easier. The pack is highly adjustable and breathes well on your back for maximum comfort. The detachable day pack is really handy and versatile. Osprey has a really nice lifetime guarantee. The salsa color makes my pack super easy to spot among the crowd. This is my first backpack and I'm growing into all this pack has to offer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's huge! And will be a perfect big spoon. This bag is huge. I can fit so much inside of it, or if I'm traveling lighter, I just pack the bottom and it still works perfectly. I am a medium size woman (5'6" 135lbs) and I struggled with a men's hand-me-down pack from my brother and just thought backpacking was hard. The shoulder straps and hip belt on this bag changed my life--they are so comfy. Also, the part where your back touches really does help keep you cool and keep down the back sweat action. There is a suspended level between the very bottom of the bag so I can keep gear separate. Super-durable, I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!! This is a great pack. It's super light and fully compressible. I do a lot of traveling and hiking and was looking for a backpack that could do double duty. I bought this because I wanted front zipper access to easily get at my clothes while traveling. The material, however, was too thin to survive the rough baggage handling that you find at airports and by the end of my last trip, by bag was scuffed and torn. I wouldn't recommended taking it traveling, but it's an awesome bag for hiking if you don't mind not having a lot of separate pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The fit is the greatest. Tried on several brands and sizes, Sales rep helped fit and he was very good at his job, seemed to have a lot of knowledge. There were more expensive packs however they did not fit as good. This one seems to be the right one. Has a lot of compartments for storage and easy to keep gear organized. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this pack again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you're considering this bag, go for it! This backpack is amazing in terms of comfort and and space. The hip belt and the shoulder pads are really comfortable. Everything is easy to adjust to you. I believe I got the small, I'm a 5 foot 5 135 pound lady, and it fits PERFECT. I've taken it to New Zealand up some mountains. It did pretty well on the plane, only came back with a tiny little tear in the gray circle on the front, the fabric there is different from the rest of the pack. There are not many pockets on this pack, which is something to consider.
