Ripstop nylon and a LightWire suspension keep this pack lightweight yet durable. The custom moldable hipbelt transfers strain off of your shoulders by transferring some of the load to your hips, all while eliminating any sag. Externally accessible bottom compartment accommodates your sleeping bag and gear straps and attachments keep all of your backcountry gear close at hand. "Great Pack, Well-Fitting!" 04/29/12
Several friends recommended this pack to me, and I have not been disappointed! I have had this pack for over a year and it has held up great. Distributes weight really well, and holds up well against weather. Easy to adjust depending on your load, and I like being able to access from the top and from the front if I am digging around for something. I've used it for camping trips up to 7 days. I did invest in the airport bag for it, because I was afraid of one of the straps getting caught when flying.
"Good First Pack" 01/30/12
I've just finished a 1month trip backpacking through Portugal. This was my first trip. And my first backpack. I love my backpack. YOU CAN FIT SO MUCH STUFF IN HERE. I was concerned about the hip belt having insufficient padding, but that ended up being a nonissue (at least so far, on a short trip with not a lot of stuff). I did find that the arm straps rub a little bit, and actually caused bruising for me after a day of hauling about 30lbs uphill. Although I wish they were a little more padded, that also could have been caused by my inexperience with packing properly. (... im figuring it out as I go..). All in all, I'm quite satisfied.
"Holy Cow This Backpack is Cool" 12/02/11
This backpack holds an enormous amount of stuff without being uncomfortable. There are so many places to clip and stow extras outside of the main compartment, I've literally never gotten it up to full capacity. Don't be discouraged from using it for a smaller trip though, it isn't awkward at all. Every time I use it, I find another cool feature that makes life easier. The pack is highly adjustable and breathes well on your back for maximum comfort. The detachable day pack is really handy and versatile. Osprey has a really nice lifetime guarantee. The salsa color makes my pack super easy to spot among the crowd. This is my first backpack and I'm growing into all this pack has to offer.
"Excellent mid-weight pack: comfortable & convenient. If you're getting a pack, get an Osprey!" 11/08/11
I bought this pack for expedition mountaineering in Nepal, because it's lightweight, crammed with useful features when you are out on the trail for many weeks, could comfortably carry a maximum load of 15kg, and was viable as a high-altitude summit pack.I've done lots of remote, heavy multi-day backpacking around the world, and nowadays only have Osprey packs. Like everything in the world, no one thing is perfect all the time. DEFINITELY closely follow the weight-carrying specifications provided by Osprey. When I go over 20kg, I have learnt to take the heavy-weight capacity Xenon.I love how the Osprey crampon bag and camera pouch attach so conveniently.
"Awesome!!" 04/16/11
This is a great pack. It's super light and fully compressible. I do a lot of traveling and hiking and was looking for a backpack that could do double duty. I bought this because I wanted front zipper access to easily get at my clothes while traveling. The material, however, was too thin to survive the rough baggage handling that you find at airports and by the end of my last trip, by bag was scuffed and torn. I wouldn't recommended taking it traveling, but it's an awesome bag for hiking if you don't mind not having a lot of separate pockets.
"Great pack!" 03/03/11
I tried many packs on in an REI store and this was the only one that felt right on me, then I went online to Moosejaw and bought the pack! ;-) It's very easy to adjust it to fit my back just right! The shoulder straps are connected to a sturdy flap with velcro that slides inside a pocket so you can adjust the straps up and down. The shoulder and hip padding is very comfortable and both are easy to adjust the length. The front panel opens up nicely so you can grab what you need without unloading everything from the top. The flap that separates the sleeping bag compartment is easy to unbuckle so you can use the entire volume of the bag. Great material and stitching is very sturdy!
"Its an awesome pack!" 12/08/10
Its an awesome pack though it couldve been a bit longer for my really really long torso but otherwise the fit was awesome. One thing.....it is not really waterproof, a four hour jaunt in a drizzle soaked it. I would reccomend a cover if you want to keep your stuff dry.
"It's huge! And will be a perfect big spoon." 12/06/10
This bag is huge. I can fit so much inside of it, or if I'm traveling lighter, I just pack the bottom and it still works perfectly. I am a medium size woman (5'6" 135lbs) and I struggled with a men's hand-me-down pack from my brother and just thought backpacking was hard. The shoulder straps and hip belt on this bag changed my life--they are so comfy. Also, the part where your back touches really does help keep you cool and keep down the back sweat action. There is a suspended level between the very bottom of the bag so I can keep gear separate. Super-durable, I love it.
"The fit is the greatest." 11/16/10
Tried on several brands and sizes, Sales rep helped fit and he was very good at his job, seemed to have a lot of knowledge. There were more expensive packs however they did not fit as good. This one seems to be the right one. Has a lot of compartments for storage and easy to keep gear organized. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this pack again.
