Moosejaw Staff Pick "The Osprey Talon 22 is the ultimate festy pack. Not only does it have great stash pockets, but it also has a whistle built into the front clip! Who doesn't love a whistle? It can hold up to a 3L reservoir which is great for long hot days in the sunshine, and along with a separate reservoir sleeve, the pack can hold a light jacket, some munchies and your concert schedule. My Talon pack has basically become my best friend, and now I never travel to a show without it." Sareen - Moosejaw Secret Headquarters

"Awesome pack! Did a great job holding all of my snacks (which is a big job)!"
Although it took me a few hours (or maybe a few days...) to figure out exactly how the external hydration system worked, this backpack was exactly what I was looking for! It's extremely light weight but very spacious. I did a few long hikes with it last summer and it did a fantastic job holding all of my snacks (and gear). It fits very comfortably, the adjustable straps work really well. The mesh on the back side makes it really breathable for your sweatier hikes. I love this pack and I would highly recommend it to carry all of your snacks (and gear).
Awesome daypack. Quality is outstanding, light, well built, seems like it will last the long haul. Used it for short hiking trips and very comfortable. Osprey makes great products. The adjustable back/frame is nice.
Great backpack. It's really light, but it could be easier to use. I think I must have ordered a size too big for me because the bottom straps aren't exactly snug around my waist. Be wary of the sizing. Very light though, and all the extra little pockets go a long way for those that like their organization.
"One of the best lightweight daypacks out there"
Perfect daypack, well thought out design, lightweight and looks good. The key to comfort is packing it properly. If you do that it carries like a dream. Only issue is durability, but that's the sacrifice you make for the weight advantage. Highly recommend for dayhikes.
"Does what most people would ask a backpack to do."
I use this for my slackline and "fun bag" if you catch my drift, so it does all I need it to. The hip belt is nice, not too ,much padding. Not an incredible amount of adjustment available but hey, its not a big deal!
I had never heard of Osprey before purchasing the 22 a few years ago. The pack has been my work-horse for day-trips on travels throughout Asia, Europe and South America. Though the sizing wasn't completely a dead-on fit (I'm between S/M and the L, I went with the S/M), the pack came with enough adjustment options to accommodate my frame (5'6, 135 lbs). The hip pockets are particularly noteworthy, and I don't know how I could live without them now. If you're looking for a light-weight, versatile day-pack, this one is hard to beat. I've since purchased three other Osprey bags based on my positive experience with this one.
I went in to my local Moosejaw ready to purchase the new Osprey / MJ Esteban, but for whatever reason it was made with a sternum strap yet no hip belt. I liked all the other features, but this was a deal breaker. The Talon, however, made my dreams come true. Now, true. the color schemes aren't nearly as fun. The straps are easy to adjust and there is a hip belt. I like the pockets in the belt as well as the ones in the strap - a fun idea and easy access. Overall, the pockets are great without getting complicated. I like the size that can hold plenty but cinch straps that mean I don't have to fill the bag all the way up. I'm not much of a biker, but the lidlock is kind of a fun idea.
This pack rocks. It's super light and it's incredibly comfortable. I barely notice that it is on even when loaded. The pack hugs your back, so there's not a lot of bouncing or swaying. Shoulder straps and waist belt adjust easily. I especially like the way Osprey sinches it's hip belts, makes it even easier to put on. The zippered compartments on the hip belt are also handy, and they're nice sized to fit most gadgets. It holds up my 3L camelbak easily. The back ventilation works great. This pack has every feature you could possibly need.
"Very practical around town or a short trail"
I love this pack, I use it everyday biking around all over town. it easily supports up to 30lbs is the most I've biked with and it holds the load very comfort bally as Osprey typically does. Definatley a good buy. My only complaint is the side straps by the water bottle holders aren't the most durable straps ive seen on Osprey and one one bike ride the right side strap snapped, although it did not bother me, for i never used it and i actually cut the next one off the next day so i don't get snagged again. every other strap has put up with all the abuse i can put on it.
This pack is like an sleek well designed european vehicle. Comfortable, ready to run and the best designed storage in the game. Thing basically begs me to put it on and hike. I will strive to take this pack - and just this pack - on every trip I take this summer.
Small enough that it wont hold you up but big enough you can fit quite a bit of stuff. With all the features of this pack it could easily be loaded down with enough gear to take a person on a week trip possibly two weeks if you have a buddy to help distribute some weight.
