"Pretty darn good." 10/20/10
Cons: mesh hipbelt pockets aren't ideal when hiking in dusty/ashy places. Pack trades away capacity for elaborate suspension, so it doesn't fit as much as you'd think, especially if you've got your water reservoir on the inside.Pros: right distribution of storage space between all of the pockets, my good old Nikkon CoolPix 5400 fits (just barely) in the side pockets, rides comfortably, sheds rain, low profile on my back.
"Proper Pack.age!" 07/06/09
So, great pack! I commute fifteen miles to work each mornin by cycle and the aircore is great in the heat, however internal space is a bit lessened by the space the aircore design occupies. Tough pack that rides well though, waist zipper pockets are large and convenient, just enough space to pack for a light weekend. i love mine man, it goes everywhere.
"It's a great day pack" 06/24/09
Just took this baby out for the first time on my bike for my 10 mile commute. It was fantastic. It is light and well balanced and the aircool ventilation kept my back nice and cool compared to other packs. I got my bike repair stuff, bike lock, work shoes, gym shoes, flip-flops, socks, undies, toiletries, undershirt, shirt, pants, belt, towel, a raincoat and she still had plenty of room. Be sure to go to the Osprey website and check out the sizing chart so you get one that fits. Taking it for overnight camping this week!
"Great Daypack" 06/22/09
Used it for about 40miles total in the Eastern Sierras as a daypack and loved it, even with gear for my wife and I in it. My only complaint is that when using a bladder with it makes it a little difficult to fill it.
"tough, comfortable, versatile pack. Just awesome" 03/27/09
canoe tripped with it on and off for two months-ish, backpacked here and there, and it is still as fresh as the day I bought it (a year ago). Even comfortable when I wear it on my bike. Constriction feature makes it a robust pack when packed correctly; no being off-balanced by it. Screw 'icepick' loops; holds my hatchet just as well!also, Aircore has become my new best friend.
"Great pack" 09/10/08
My husband used this pack for hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and he loved it. The rigid back kept his back cool, and he alternated between carrying the load on his shoulders or his waist by either cinching or loosening the waist strap. I really liked my Osprey Talon and wouldn't trade it for the world, but I appreciated that the Stratos had a better design for carrying trekking poles (so I made my husband carry my poles for me on his Stratos)! Osprey rocks!
"A good bag with limitations" 06/30/08
This is a very good hiking bag, but I don't think it is as versatile as other bags I've seen. It is a little bulkier than I would like and really only works as a hiking bag -- I think it would look stupid walking through a city with it. Also, I would suggest trying it on somewhere first since it comes in 3 sizes. Also, it would be nice if it came with a water bladder it costs about 30 bucks to get a good one.
"greeeeeeeeeeat pack! get it!" 06/01/08
this pack is incredible. the air space for your back helps you keep cool on those long and strenuous hikes. lots of compartments for all of your gear. two different hydration spots are pretty cool. the waist belt is one of my favorite parts.
"If the size suits you, buy it." 03/27/08
Unlike many of the other reviewers that apparently have more exciting lives and get out more often than I do, I was mainly searching for a dual purpose pack. It's main function in life will be to keep a piece or two of rain gear, about three pieces of fleece different weights, my GPS, binoculars, etc. in my car for organized, but handy storage. I figureed while I was at it, I might as well choose a pack that would make a great warm weather day pack. This pack is a prefect size for a full day hike, is extremely comfortable when loaded, and cinches down when it's not. The back design is the best I've seen for keeping you cool.
"You should fall in love with this pack." 01/30/08
This is the GREATEST backpack..it is air cooled does not sit directly against your back. It is light and lots of convenient pockets and places to attach your gear. It is perfect for short hikes or even overnighters. I love this little backpack.
