The Osprey Porter 65 Travel Pack is a pack with an identity crisis: backpack or suitcase? Luckily, with the versatility of this pack, you won't have to choose. Go seamlessly from the trail to the train, with a pack large enough to fit clothes and supplies but compact enough to fit in overhead luggage bins and under seats. Carry it as a backpack or with a the shoulder strap as an over-the-shoulder bag. It's not our fault if you keep finding yourself making up excuses to keep traveling just so you can use this pack. Just make sure to steal some of those airplane peanuts and stash them in this pack: you'll thank me later.

"Great ba, but too big for carryon"  12/11/10

All those travel bags with wheels and handles are great, but the handles take up a lot of valuable space that could otherwise be used for gear and clothes. The Porter eliminates all that, and it's amazing how much you can fit inside. The handle makes it easy to carry, but if it gets too heavy, just use the pack straps. Works great. Just remember this one is about 4 inches too long to be considered carry-on luggage, unless you have flight officials who will look the other way. If you want to be sure, go down one size and get the 46, it's great too.

"A great value product by the always great Osprey"  05/11/10

I like this pack because it is very spacious inside. You can use the backpack straps for hauling, but also have the nice top and side handles. It does not have an excess of exterior straps that I have seen on other packs, which is nicer when using as travel luggage. Also, the D rings are nice to have for potential attachments. Great bag. Would recommend this product.

"GREAT!"  07/05/09

I ordered this pack after I got the 90 liter version and really liked it. I prefer this 65 liter version because it is roomy enough without being too big. Love the way you can stow the shoulder straps when they are not being used. I just packed it for a three week trip to Costa Rica and think it will be great!

"Magically bigger on the inside than the outside"  09/04/08

Bought this for my fiancé to use as a general camping and travel duffel. And boy can he cram a lot of gear and clothes into it. It doesn't bother him that it wasn't really designed as a backpacking pack (frame, straps aren't cut out for it), but if anyone was planning to do hike-in camping or the like, I wouldn't recommend it.

"part travel pack, part beast"  06/09/08

Awesome pack. I bought this for a recent trip to Costa Rica. So far it has survived four flights, being dragged along airport floors when I didn't have time to get out the backpack straps, having other luggage piled on top of it during countless bus rides, several rough boat rides, and being lugged around in tropical storm weather, among other things. And the best part? It still looks like it's brand new. It was spacious enough to hold all the clothes and gear I needed for a 12 day trip into the jungles of Costa Rica. The different carrying options especially the backpack option were a necessity when dealing with rugged terrain where anything with wheels wouldn't have survived. Plus i

"great bag, good value"  08/05/07

Bought both the Ospsrey 65 and the 90, planning on keeping one and returning the other. But, liked them so much that I kept them both! Used the 65 as a caryyon andit worked like a charm, however it is that a charm works.

"Lightweight, sturdy, no gimmicks, a good buy."  04/14/07

We're just back from 3 weeks in Southeast Asia, and the packs were excellent. They are lightweight and roomy, just what we near 70-year old lady adventurers needed (Today I am throwing out two heavier old packs from bygone trips over the last 10 years.)The side supports of the Osprey 65 protected fragile souvinirs we bought, the straps allowed us to carry our trekking poles, and every time we thought "if only they had...." we found they had: outside pockets, inside pockets, the top covers the buckle attachments to protect them in travel, etc. Going r-t-w? Take a look at this pack. It withstood 13 air flights as well as the usual wear, and is as good as new.
