OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Great Travel Pack I've used this pack for several cross country trips and it carries everything I need. I have never had an issue carrying it on an airplane, even the smaller commuter prop planes. The compression system works great is making sure the pack will fit in even the tightest overhead bin. I took it on an extended trip through China, Vietnam and Cambodia and it was perfect. It carried everything I needed with room to spare. It was easy to handle on buses, tuk tuks, ferries and taxis. Even fully loaded, carrying it as a backpack was comfortable. To me this is the perfect travel pack for those who want a versatile, durable carry on travel pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of best Osprey packs This pack is great. It is sturdy and durable. I travel a lot, carrying heavy loads. The fact that this pack is huge enough, makes you carry as much as you need, but not over-pack it to ruin your mood after 5km. It is perfectly easy to load, lots of options to store your stuff, like mesh pockets, and those highly accessible front pockets. When carrying a sleeping bag, i just tuck it vertically between the two front straps. This pack is quiet awesome. I'd definitely recommend it to friends, and actually already did. One thing that I'd like, is to have a place for a water bottle. I know, weird. But still!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ditch the wheels and carry your stuff like a man! Notwithstanding my review of the Osprey Shuttle 28L, I believe if you can't carry it on your back, you shouldn't be carrying it at all. I've used this bag all over the world. It's the perfect size for stowing in the overhead compartment, yet still has all kinds of room for your crap. I'm mildly addicted to Osprey's "straightjacket" system...it's great for protecting your gear and compressing it smaller. The stowaway backpack harness is pretty good...not great, but I'm not planning on summiting Kilimanjaro with it either. And it has the integral whistle in the sternum strap buckle...great for annoying my wife in the airport and making the grade-schooler sitting next to me jealous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size for practical traveler I generally use this bag with a couple packing cubes (Eagle Creek, for example) and can easily carry enough clothing for two weeks, plus 3-5 pairs of shoes. The pack holds its shape well without being too rigid, thus allowing you to squeeze that last item along the edge. I’ve always brought this bag as a carry-on and haven’t had any issues with size, even at capacity.,,,,Brought this bag to Italy last year during an train strike and had to walk along a steep hiking trail to the apartment. Since the shoulder straps are well-padded and there is a decent hip belt, I had no issues. Enough said.,,,,\While I don't want to paint with a broad brush, everyone everywhere should buy this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from diggably great pack i rocked an osprey pack on my thru-hike of the AT and needed a new bag for travel - my main considerations were carry-on, not too flimsy, easy load/unload, and sexy stylish, so the ladies would have something else to gawk at other than my cute behind as i walked by...seriously though, i love osprey, the bag is exactly what i was looking for depsite not being able to check it out physically at a store...that being said it helps if you are an experienced pack buyer so you know what size you need and what features/specs work for you...sleak and clean, just like me! POP POP i'm out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for an adventure, spacious and comfortable Great for those who do casual traveling, that need more than a backpack and also can avoid paying those nasty check-in luggage fees! I am going for a long backpacking trip (hopefully) a year. It's my first time and though i been advised to pack light, I wanted a little more than this since I will be switching from cold to hot weather. I instead bought the Fairpoint 70 which offers the detachable backpack. However ,this is a great backpack for a frequent flyer or someone who is going for a short term adventure, it's spacious and comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack Used this on a 9 day trip to Europe in December. Packed enough clothes and was still able to use it as a carry on. The compression straps helped out and I rolled all the clothes. All the straps can be tucked away if you need to check the bag. The straps do need a little more padding if you plan on taking a long walk. I carried it for a couple hours at a time and that was about the longest time I could carry it comfortably. Keep it mind the bag was loaded to the max. I would still recommend it based on the size and it's capabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for travel. I bought this pack in order to avoid checked bag fees on airlines. It offers a main compartment that's roomy enough for a week worth of clothing. The interior zippered pockets allow you to stash electronics and smaller items without them being lost in the main compartment. The compression straps allow you to squish everything down enough to satisfy even the strictest of airline size guidelines. The ability to stash your shoulder/waist straps within the pack sounds like a nice feature, but I've found that it's rarely necessary. The straps have plenty of adjustment available to accomodate users of all sizes and the whistle on the chest strap adds a bit of entertainment in a crowded terminal. The pack is great for travel, but a bit too cumbersome for hiking.
