OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great daily pack I use it everyday as a commuter bag. i find room for my big laptop, documents, my lunchbox and a change of clothes for whatever activity i plan after work. I have not owned it very long, but so far the build quality looks good. The amount of pockets is just right, not too many that you loose stuff, but enough to neatly separate things. My favorite feature is the little padded pocket on the top where i put cellphone and wallet without having to dig inside the bag. The capacity is excellent. Overall a great everyday bag at a reasonable price point

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack for travel and daily commute, excellent construction and warranty. I frequently travel for work by 1-2 night trips, often on small regional jets. I've been looking for a laptop backpack that I can use for one bag travel that is functional as a overnight bag, can be used as a mobile office/brief case, and double as a day pack around town or on the trail if I have some free time. ,,After trying several packs I was torn between the Nebula and the North Face Surge II. While I could make both packs work, the Nebula has a far superior organizer for my needs a bit more room and TSA friendly laptop storage. ,,I can easily fit my 15" work laptop, tablet, and an eagle creek 18" packing folder with business clothes for a 3 day trip, pair of sneakers, casual wear, 3-1-1 bag and folders and papers needed for a shorter trip, all while fitting under the seat on planes even as small as a Canadair 900. ,,While I kept the Nebula, I do prefer the 2 large external zip pockets on the front panel of the Surge II. An extra small external zipper pocket would be great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Alternative to North Face Surge II I learned to loath my new Surge II this summer & tried this to replace it. The Nebula is a BIG well organized bag with a really nice comfy grab handle on the top. The large rear TSA laptop sleeve also holds a full tablet. The main compartment feels more roomy than the Surge II, and has a "document" pocket for organizing. The front organizer pocket is well thought out & blows the Surge II away in this respect. It's a full organizer with several pockets at the top, a lower zippered pocket large enough to hold a Mini tablet, or other toys. On that is the pen/calculator holder. Unlike the Surge II, where all the pockets interfere with each other, these are layered nicely. There is also small zip pocket in the top for small items. I thought the Surge II's slash pockets would be nice, & they are, but they interfered with the organizer. The nebula has mesh pocket on the front that is really useful for throwing things in Watch the color though; it is a nice brick red, but it's not burgundy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect everyday and airline carry on. I have 6 Osprey bags. Usually for travel I use the Porter 30 or 46. But for those trips when I have checked luggage, the Nebula is the perfect carry on. Organizational pockets are well thought out. Good protection for the computer and tablet. Very adjustable from max load to min load. I am an investigator and this things fits all my gear and plenty of room for a jacket and my lunch. This bag is absolutely perfect in every detail. It can hold a lot. When your needs are minimal, the straps shrink it down to size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Pack, except... Let me start by saying I love almost everything about this pack. Perfect size, roomy, comfortable, great organization, perfect carry-on and weekend pack. I have given it onbly 3 stars because the mesh used for the water bottle holders on either side snag on everything and tear easily. Using mesh in a high wear area like this is a very bad idea and will significantly reduce the life span of a bag that is otherwise pretty burly. The same mesh is used on the front stow pouch and has experienced the same wear and tear. My bag is only a year old and I am already having to consider replacing it sue to holes on both sides where my water bottles go. I love osprey packs and this is one of three in my quiver, I use it everyday and hope Osprey will address this issue in future models, it is just a poor design to put weak material in such high wear areas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable for what it is I have been using this product every day for a year and it holds up. As my daily backpack for college, I enjoy the pockets and laptop sleeve. The one complaint I have is when lightly loaded the bottom sags. Thus far it has been durable and I plan to use it or years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for travel and day hikes. I was looking for a bag that would work well as both a carry on and day hike bag for my upcoming trip to the middle east. I was able to fit a change of clothes, toiletries and other essentials in the bag for the flight with room to spare. The bag is a lot more spacious than it looks. It is also nice that it has separate pockets for my laptop and my tablet. Once overseas I moved the clothes and toiletries back to my main suitcase and it became a great bag for day hikes and excursions to various locations. I wasn't able to stop back at the hotel to repack, so I had to bring whatever I needed for the day. The Nebula once again excelled and showed it had enough room to handle whatever I brought with some space left over for anything I happened to pickup along the way. The bag has just the right number of pockets to help keep you organized without losing track of what you put where. The stash pocket was deceptively large and let me keep a large Oakley sunglasses case and a couple small souvenirs. The laptop compartment provides enough protection that I don't worry all the time. The mesh water bottle pockets should be large enough to handle a Nalgene bottle if that's your thing; I had a 25 oz Camelbak bottle in there as well as a 1.5 liter disposable. Over the course of my trip I went on 4 separate hikes, the longest of which was around 3 hours. The bag was loaded pretty well with a rain slicker, a camera, some cold weather gear (hat and gloves), water bottles/snacks, a battery pack, and some other various cables and such. The load was vary well balanced and I didn't feel any back or shoulder pain at the end of the trip.
