"Is it a bag? or a blackhole for all your gear?" |
01/28/10 |
| Seriously, this thing is big enough to stuff everything and the kitchen sink in it! Yet, comfortable enough to carry heavy loads for miles. Quality made piece of gear and the custom molded hip belt sure makes a difference on the trail. I love all the little 'extra features' of this, all my buddies are jealous. I'd definitely reccomend this pack to anyone. | |

"Great pack, holds more than you need to put in it, and is comfortable." |
10/28/09 |
| I use this pack in Afghanistan. The pack has held up better than i thought it would. The fabric feels thin so i assumed it would tear on me but hasn't yet. All the straps and buckles and fastex clips are small so i again figured they were going to break on me but havent yet. I love the pack but think they should have beefed up the hardware on it. | |

"This pack kicks arse and takes names" |
08/17/09 |
| I recently purchased this pack after finally retiring my Lowe Alpine 90+15 that i'd used for years. While I liked my previous pack it can't hold a candle to the Osprey. The large gaping hold that is the main compartment just keeps taking stuff and then the compression straps center it all nicely to provide a well balanced, comfortable trek. Initially, the hip belt was a bit uncomfortable but by the end of the second day I barely noticed it was there. The one downfall as other have mentioned is the water bottle pocket. The angle at which it is positioned on the pack makes it difficult to get the bottle out while moving. | |

"Excellent comfort balance and construction" |
06/30/09 |
| This pack is supremely comfortable and has fabulous balance, especially if you pay heed to Osprey's packing advice and keep the dense part of the load in close to your back in the middle of the pack. It feels much smaller in use than I expected for such a large pack. Plenty of room for your bear cannister, in addition to all of your other kit. The ventilation on this thing is amazing, although the side profile is deeper than more conventional packs because of the bowed suspension which gets the thing off of your back. Overall, a very well designed and executed tool. You get what you pay for. | |

"Honestly, you can't go wrong with this pack, it has room for everything and does 1-2 week trips easy" |
06/29/09 |
| I live in Saskatchewan and our northern woods are thick and in many places completely unexplored. I've taken this pack on a fair number of week long trips since I bought it and its been beat, battered, and stabbed at by thick brush and rocks and hasn't a mark to show for it. The durability while packed to the brim with heavy gear is amazing considering the same gear package did a number on my two previous packs. That alone would make me recommend it but the fact that it's so comfy while loaded floored me. | |

"Too Comfortable (Almost) - Lets us to carry way too much stuff" |
06/16/09 |
| These packs really do let us carry more weight more comfortably than any previous packs we have owned. Forgot I even had the pack on at times. Lots of space in my 85 and my wife's Xenon 70 easily held all of the extraneous items you think you need. But - hey - why not be comfortable when you can ? Jeff and the gang at EL store helped us try on about every pack in the store and no doubt the Osprey felt best under load - at least the Argon and Xenon models did. | |

"Pack is awesome" |
05/11/09 |
| I havn't bought a new pack in about 15 years or so. I have an early 90's Dana Alpine and still use it. I bought this pack for family and group camping. This thing is incredible. Very large but because of the compression system it is very manageable. I had a medium that I used for a couple of weeks but had to take it back and order this large. I'm on the borderline between the two sizes. I would say with Osprey's suspension if you are in the middle then go with the larger size because of the frame stays on the outside of the pack being at shoulder level. | |

"700 straps, eats gear and clothes and food, and makes your butt look good." |
04/09/09 |
| Have used this for a few casual trips so far, and it has really impressed. I am taking it on a 3-month stint in Italy, farming and hiking as much as possible. This thing eats EVERYthing I have tried to put in it. I put a huge, cotton (non-compressible) sleeping bag, and it just swallowed it. Got it out of the box, and put 3 comforters, 4 blankets, and a pillow in it, just to see how it looked full. It wasn't full. Seriously though, compresses great, and if you don't have a lot of stuff in it, it has another buckle all the way across the pack to compress a minimal load. I love it. | |

"failed ten weeks on an expedition in patagonia" |
03/28/09 |
| i wish i could be positive, but i can't. ten weeks in the expedition here and the zips fail, the material cuts and shreds and it's weak and for the money and reputation , it's like having a bently and actually it's just a ford...seriously, comfort aside, this size of pack is for backpacking and it can't hack ten weeks here in patagonia. we've had three pass though here now and all have the same inherent built in weakness..................BRING BACK THE CRESCENT SERIES>made with material to withstand a hike in the wild | |

"Solid build from Osprey" |
03/11/09 |
| This is the BEST back pack I've ever worn since my release from the service in 1971. I've tried them all or just about all. With 58 years on me now and a recent dislocated left shoulder and a minor bone spir on my right heal I am limited to 45 pounds and this pack will carry much more. The best part is that with a light load one can carry bulky cloths for the weather and not sacrifice space. Plus on short trips you can compress it to eliminate exess bulk.Recomend this brand and style to anyone serious about back packing. Many thanks once again. Happy Packin | |

"This is the Greatest Pack in my opinion." |
03/07/09 |
| I was initially skeptical on the size and weight of this pack but after trying 20 other packs I knew I had to have the Argon. The suspension on this pack is amazing and I really do think the extra weight of this pack is justified. I went with the 85 rather than the 70 because I'm usually carrying gear for two. On weekend trips I can leave our down sleeping bags un compressed and just stuff them in the pack to fill out the 85 liter size. The load straps help to cinch down the bag when your not carrying a full pack. | |
