The Osprey Manta 36 Pack is a day hike pack for leaving in the early dawn and not returning until dusk. The largest of the three sizes is the 36, built with extra space to take the necessities on longer day adventures. From your next 14er to just exploring around in your nearby park trails, the included 3L Hydraulics™ reservoir will keep you from being parched along the way. The BioStretch™ harness and hipbelt are made with EVA foam and spacer mesh, which is cool and comfortable without adding anything extra to the overall weight. Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This pack is excellent for what I purchased it for, bike camping and hydration pack. Pack is easy to put on even with a full load & 3 liters of water included. Will hold enough gear/food for a weekend camping trip. The rain cover will keep your gear dry and mud free. Hiking or biking this pack has served me well. Easy to retrieve thinks from the two side pockets. Has trekking pole and ice ax loops that have a rubber shield for added durability.Pack is bullet proof! Mine was stolen about a week ago with my bike and other gear. I will be getting another one in next couple of weeks. I would recommend this pack to my mother. It will enable you to carry all of the things you need for a fun filled day or 3 day weekend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Capable, Roomy, Lightweight, Delicious Great pack. Although my wife and I aren't using this pack as perhaps it was intended by Osprey (we're using it as our newborn's baby bag), it has still "delivered" (zing!!) the high quality we had expected. We both have our own Osprety packs we have used for day trips and camping, but this one is probably our favorite. Tough, spacious, lots of storage and organization. We have NOT used the hydration bladder, so I can't comment on it. But it did come with one, so thats nice. Would definatly recommend it and/or buy again. ,,,,,,,,and you should buy it from moosejaw.com,,,,,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pack and well worth the money. If your a hiker and notice that your current hydration pack leaves your shoulder sore. Then you need to get this pack.,,,,Pro:,,,,Comfort, 3L reservoir, Lots of room, sits comfortably on the waist, waist pockets are nice, and durable. Also keeps your back dry. ,,,,Con:,,,,placement of the magnetic clip for the drinking tube.,,should have a headphone hole for your mp3 player. ,,you also will hear water swooshing around in the reservior.,,,,Final result:,, ,,With a lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong with this pack. It is nice that my hiking buddies also bought one. They have the Geigerigg 1200 and 700. ,,,,Great Product and Great company that stands behind their product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Solid Pack I bought this pack to serve as a good, large day-hiking pack as well as for my laptop and books during daily activities. Thus far I am happy to say I made the right purchase. I spent months trying to find a backpack that was at least the same size (preferably larger) as my North Face Borealis of 10 years and had large, easily accessible compartments and looked awesome.,,The built in pack cover saved a weekend hike and dried quickly afterward. The large fits me well (6'2", 215; watch out ladies). It is a large pack at 36L for daily use, however, I've found that I cannot cinch it down enough so it does not rock on my back. That's the only reason why I have given it 'big ups' and not 'love it' status.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This pack is smarter, cooler and better looking than you. I know, you had enough problems in high school as it is. You didn't run with the cool kids and you had acne. Now that you are older you may have thought that those years are behind you. Well, you're wrong. This pack is better than you will ever be.,,Perfect for a day pack, it will even suffice for those overnighters who have compressible sleeping bags and a hammock camper. I have gone on several one night trips and had no problem with my hammock and a summer sleeping bag with compression bag. If you do want to go overnight, be prepared to think SMALL. Ultralight people will be happy.,,Side pockets are great for water bottles, there is a included 3L hydration bottle inside as well. Hip pockets are great for flashlights and snacks. There is a felt lined pocket for sunglasses so they won't get scratched. Even a clip for car keys. Trekking pole straps work perfectly.,,This is probably the most well made pack I own. You can FEEL the quality of the zippers. Yup, this pack rocks. You don't.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack for hiking or for everyday use! Got this pack for day trips up the mountains. This pack has plenty of room for everything needed. Extra bonus is the hydro pack. Now I don't have to carry bottles of water with me and no more stopping on the trails to get a drink. The rain cover that is stowed away is great for that unexpected pop up rain! The pack fits great and has nice ventilation. It seems good to not have a pack sitting on your back making you sweat. Great pack for the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and easy to stay organized I have had this bag for a month, using it primarily for hikes with my dog. A full 3 liters in the water bladder, another half gallon for the four legger, snacks, and an extra layer or two disappear on your back. I haven't had more than 25 pounds in the pack so I can't comment on heavier loads, but I am amazed at how comfortable the pack is. The hip belt pockets are great for keys and a small knife, and my big phone fits nicely in the padded/zippered "sunglass" pouch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits perfectly I got this for Christmas from my wife, and I love it. After I adjusted the straps and put some weight in it it rides great right on my hips. I use it while bike commuting and have found it to have the right amount of space with spare warm clothing, bike tools, and work stuff. I have yet to use the water bladder seeing as it's currently below zero in Minnesota, but it comes out of the pack very easily, I only wish it had a dedicated hose hole instead of the hose coming out of the zipper. It keeps my back from sweating (yes even in winter I sweat when a pack sits directly on my back with a down jacket on). Unfortunately I wont be able to use it for the next six weeks because my bike slipped on some ice and I broke my arm, but I am looking forward to riding with it again and using it in the summer for hikes.,,,,P.S. the bike light clip on bottom is a life saver, quite literally, brilliant design, love it.
