"kid approved" 10/24/11
My two boys (ages 6 and 8) love their new packs. They were the most expensive presents my kids have ever gotten, but they are probably worth it due to their durability and function. The pack is probably too big for my 6 year old (he's big for his age, and the pack is borderline for him), but still functional for him. They can hold far more weight than would he healthy for the kids to toe, so be careful not to let them overload. The included rain cover and water bladder sleeve are great features. Love watching the little tikes hiking along in these things...look like pros already!! The adjustable strap system is ingenious and works well.
"don't be lame and buy a cheap pack that sux for your lil one" 09/24/10
Okay, you have sticker shock on this pack. So let's do the math. If you only do 5 trips a year with junior and he uses it for 10 years (very feasible due to it's adjustability) you'll have $2 per trip in it. And your kid will love backpacking, because he/she will be comfortable. So, don't be cheap. Put this in your cart now. P.S> I bought this for my 5 year old. The next size up on Osprey is a bit too big for him now. No probs, my 2.5 year old will be in this one when it is time to get him the next!
"Why would you be cheap and get anything OTHER than this pack for your kid?" 09/24/10
Seriously, get real. This pack will grow with your child (started my son in it at age 5) until they hit puberty. No doubt, this puppy is feature packed, it's an Osprey. I actually like some features on it better than my Aether.. like the pockets on the hip belt. And with the "Almighty Guarantee" from Osprey, you know it will last, or they will fix it. So you have a choice, teach your child you are lame and cheap, or be their hero and put them in this limo. Just add it to your cart... NOW!
