The Osprey HydroForm Reservoir is a hydration system for on-the-go hydration from inside a pack. This reservoir features a rigid back that prevents barrelling and makes it easy to slide into a pack, especially when paired with the handy ergonomic handle. The wide-mouth cap lets water in quickly to fill up in no time. The mouthpiece has a magnet that attaches to the magnet on Osprey pack harnesses and is turned off by twisting to prevent dripping. This water bladder also features an anti-microbial coating to prevent anything funky happening to the water. And by anything funk I mean I can guarantee no sea monkeys will show up in your reservoir. So you can sleep at night now.

DECENT FEATURES of the Osprey Hydraform Reservoir

  • 180 degree on/off pivot bite valve with magnet
  • Integral frame sheet eliminates barreling
  • Rigid handle for easy insertion and removal in pack

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best for trail hiking. I used it on a 14 mile hike and fell in love. The non-flexible backside to the bag fits into my Osprey Talon 44 pack and allows for taking it in and out of my pack with ease whether it's full or empty. I took it solo on a kayaking trip and because of the hard back, I set it behind the kayak seat and snaked the tube through my lifejacket and had a super thin, super handy water source for the whole trip. The only thing I find difficult is that the hard plastic on the front makes it a task to get my hand inside so that I can scrub it out really good. It's a minor problem that I remedied by buying the tube/bag scrub brush set by Platypus.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What started out as a great product turned ugly when it started leaking. Very disappointing. I joined a friend of mine on the Appalachian Trail for two weeks (he was 3 mos along) and had no problems with the Osprey Reservoir until about day 8 or 9. It worked as advertised and was very convenient. On Day 8 or 9 it started leaking around the bottom so my backside and sleeping bag (in backback) were constantly wet. One night I left water in the reservoir and in the morning it had leaked all over the pack and contents, and I had standing water in one pocket where my cell phone was stored. No more cell phone... Needless to say I wasn't overly pleased. Turned a challenging hike into one that was was needlessly disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 36 times better than anything Camelback makes. The best thing about this reservoir is the frame! The ventilated back-frame keeps it from bulging into your back the way camelbacks do. Gone are the feelings of having a giant water-balloon strapped to your back. Another great thing about it is the handle, which makes filling and capping much easier. No more spilling water all over your floor while you try to put the cap on! The handle also makes it much easier to slide the reservoir down into your pack. One more nice touch is the magnetic clip that comes with it. It fits perfectly on an Osprey chest strap and you don't have to fumble with it to get it to stay - just touch the magnets together and you're done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design I had always used camelback products but I was getting a new Osprey pack so I decided to get this to go along with it. I'll never look back. The handle for filling is great and the mouth is HUGE! The stiff backing ensures that it remains much more flat when filled compared to a ballooning camelback. I really like the swivel to open mouth piece and the magnet that clips to my chest strap. Never had any problems with this and I would gladly buy another 3L one again. I've even taken this golfing because it fills flatter and is able to fit easier (compared to the camelback) into the larger side pocket on my bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from innovative rigid formed back design but front rubber is easily punctured no more fussing w/ bulging bladders & messing with interior pack contents to refill.,,,,this provides easy access & can be place in mesh section btween shoulder straps & pack.,,,,3 minuscule thorns detached from a branch & embedded into bottom front rubber. super slow leakage about tear drop size. repaired w/ rubber cement/patch kit. within 12 hrs it became saturated & slid right off.,,,,for 3 weeks in the backcountry redoing the repair daily became routine. also used seam-sealer but still no dice.,,,,disappointed by nalgene. i want some solid advice to fix this issue to maintain longevity or a replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No leaks! (!!!) Flat backing! Less plastic flavor! I got the 3L version, b/c its so close in price, and I just fill it less if I dont want all the weight. The diff in weight between the 2 + 3 L is negligible. Mine doesn't leak whatsoever! An MSRDromedary leaked forever, always had a dribble o wet following me--ugh! The magnet is sweet (no bouncing plastic tube) and so is the pivot-mouthpiece. The plastic back makes this slip comfortably into any pack. I barely taste any plastic flavor, and only if its been sitting all day. The ONLY con is that it is a bit heavier than other reservoirs.,,,,I tend to drink a lot more water while hiking (or driving, I keep this in my car behind my seat for long trips) with this--they are SO worth it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not recommend this to someone. I used it on a few day hikes before taking it out on a backpacking trip, as I wanted to see how I liked it. I then took it out on a section hike of the AT through MA, CT, & NY. I didn't even get to my first shelter when it started leaking all over my pack. First I thought it was a one time deal, so I called Osprey and they sent me one to the next town i passed. The next day on the trail, it busted again. The part that frustrates me the most....it busted in the exact same spot. On the top behind the cap on the inside of the bladder. I met thru hikers w/the same issue. Osprey...please fix this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much better than a Nalgene I'm that dufus that spills have the water on herself when drinking out of a nalgene, especially when walking. This was a great purchase. It fits easily in my Osprey day pack as well as my framepack. It holds a good amount of water and comes with a magnetic attachment to hold the mouthpiece in a convenient location. When the water gets low you do have to suck a bit hard to get the water out but nothing crazy or not what you would find with any other hydration system. The opening is large enough to make cleaning easy. The only downside I see is that it can be tricky to fill to capacity.
