OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid little day pack A nice little backpack. It fits onto the larger Osprey packs with the little toggles, so it can be used as a daypack. The straps are very ergonomic for a pack with little to no padding, so it will carry a few liters of water comfortably. I've used this on day-long hikes in the Grand Canyon and on the Olympic Peninsula, as a travel pack for 2-4 day trips, as carry-on for flights. I managed to crack one of the buckles after buying it, but I'm pretty sure that's because it got crunched when I closed the lid of a dry box on it, so that one's on me. And my husband liked my Daylite enough that he got one of his own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Everything! Got this for the holidays and I love it! Used it as a carry on for a flight (held big headphones, a big book, and a bunch of snacks and still had room for more), perfect size to carry a change of clothes for work, and took it on a day hike in 30 degree weather (perfect size for a few layers, some snacks, and a lunch). Most importantly it fit my 32oz nalgene in the side pocket. The teal color also looked just as good in person! This is the perfect size for when a purse is too small, but when a school backpack is too big. It's extremely durable and comfortable, and it can be for intense day hikes or casual travel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than expected! I bought this before a trip to New York City, i knew i was going to do a lot of walking but that i was going to need to carry layers with me for the cold. I'm also a gear freak, so i carry a lot more than i need to. This pack excelled in what i needed from it, it can fit more than you think and it's still small enough to know where everything is inside. I love osprey and i have an aether 70 which just so happens that it can attach to via the loops for add-ons. So that was a huge bonus. Especially if i ever needed 13 more liters to my aether to make it an 83 liter which is more than i could ever want. Very pleased that i bought this resilient little pack as my trip buddy to New York City, did not disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Pack Absolutely love this day pack. Knew I had to review it when I spent three hours hiking in pouring rain with this on my back and nothing inside got wet! This pack fits my Nalgene, hammock, change of clothes, snacks, phone, and Tevas perfectly. The straps are perfect for adjusting to fit your body for easy hiking. Extra bonus: my dog got a hold of one of the waist buckles and chewed on it for a good hour before I noticed. The buckle held up and although it looks nice and chewed on it still works perfectly! Tough, perfect small backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Day Pack I wanted a pack that I could wear during casual mountain bike rides, day hikes, and overnight camping trips. This thing gets used for that and so much more. It comes with decent sternum and waist straps, the ability to use a hydration pack, and has a whistle in the sternum clip. The thing I enjoy the most, however, are the adjustable straps on the sides of the pack which add extra security for tall items in the side net pouches or simply securing the main pouch. Bottom Line: Osprey has a great warranty and this pack is perfect for hauling some gear, whether you're outdoors or in town.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Things Come in Small Packages I carried this bag as my every day bag for 10 days in Europe and was very pleased with it. It's so light, even when fully packed, that I often forgot it was there. Having said that, just be warned that it isn't a huge pack, so you can't carry everything you own in it. But, I carried a jacket, camera, tablet, and other various and sundry things with no problems. The straps could be padded slightly more, but I was never uncomfortable carrying the pack. And, for the price and the Osprey guarantee, you just can't beat it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect! I got this to use as my hiking backpack and, for the most part, I haven't been disappointed. It has more than enough room for everything I need and the front panel keeps me organized. The key clip is especially handy, because that's the last thing I want to go searching for at the end of a long hike! I only have two complaints. One, I wish it had an external bungee to secure an extra jacket. It seems like a no-brainer. Secondly, the shape of the side mesh pockets means my water bottles aren't secure... and meant I had one go skittering down the side of a mountain! It's easy enough to buckle it into the side cinch straps, but it's still annoying. That being said, neither of these are fatal flaws and, for the price, this pack is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thumbs up! This is a fabulous day pack for travel or around town. I use this pack as a companion piece to my Osprey 46L which I can attach it to. I also use the Daylite for hydration which is perfect for treks. If you are looking for something that you can stuff android to the "gills" this is not the pack for you. I am a minimalist and for scooting out and about during the day when traveling thru cities and local areas it works perfectly. This pack is not designed for long term, high volume packing inside. You want an say on the go day pack - go for this one!

Just by looking at pictures this pack doesn't have any front pockets. My question is, would it by easy to attach tools or hiking gear to the outside like you can on many other packs or would that have to primarily go inside?

Asked by: Jake
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! So, this Osprey Daylite Backpack attaches to compatible packs like their Sojourn or Shuttle series models. It has a large and a small pocket to stash your gear. If you're looking to hang stuff off of it, you might want to consider a pack with gear/carabiner loops and/or a front-panel bungee storage area.

Will this pack hold my 35 mm camera and lenses going on safari to Africa and don't want to take my big heavy camera bag

Asked by: Mochasmom
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us. While this wouldn't offer as much protection and padding as a typical camera bag, it would be big enough to hold a camera and lenses. I hope this helps!

Would this be a decent bag for day bag for skiing?

Asked by: Tripped0ut
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! This pack is made for carrying gear on a fast hike or trail run, or for exploring your travel destination. The question shouldn't be is it good for skiing, but can it hold everything you want to bring?

Can it fit a 13.3 inch laptop?

Asked by: Timothy
Hey there, The dimensions of this pack are 19 x 10 x 8.5 inches. Depending of the length/width of your laptop, it should fit in the main compartment, but it will most likely not fit in the iPad/Tablet sleeve.

Would this be big enough for a one night trip? I have a very small sleeping bag and tent and would only need a small amount of food, a few miscellaneous items, and a water reservoir.

Asked by: Sean
The Osprey Daylite Backpack is 13 liters. This particular bag would normally be suggested for short day hikes. However, I do not know what you are carrying. Whether you can carry all of the gear that you would need in this bag depends completely on you. I would suggest looking to see what the other people that you are travelling with might think.
