The Osprey Comet Pack is a light and efficient backpack for urban commuters, day hikers, students, or anyone in between. Featuring padded pockets for laptops, documents and an MP3 player, this pack touts a well-organized design that doesn't waste any weight or space. A waistbelt and a sternum strap keeps the pack from shifting while hiking or riding your bike. Strong enough to hold textbooks without weighing you down. All the speedy benefits of a comet without the cosmic dust or burning atmosphere business or whatever other comety things comets do. I'm not a scientist.

"Nice Pack. Close but not exactly what I was looking for."

This is a nice pack. I like the layout of the pack as a whole and really life the carry handles. Like all Osprey packs its very well made. The color is nothing like the picture. Rather than blue its more aqua. The zipper is difficult to access on the front stash pocket due to the flap.
I`ve had this bag for over a year now & it looks & performs just like it was brand new! I use it pretty well every day on my walk to work, rain, shine, or Canadian winter & it holds up to the task. I`ve also taken it on a few trail riding day trips to hold my snacks & spares. It`s more rugged than it looks. The only negative about it versus other osprey bags is the volume of the pack itself, it`s not your week long camping pack, but it`s perfect for your laptop & textbooks or a day of hiking.A+ to Osprey & their lifetime guarantee!
This is a great backpack for daily basis because it is so light and durable. I bought this for my 13" macbook pro, and it fits just perfect. I really like the strap design on the upper and lower part of the backpack because it can stable your stuff in the bag and make it less bulky. It is easy to organize different items in several pockets, and is also a perfect backpack for hiking on the weekend
"Got the comet for travel. Like the panel loading and pocket configuration. Very well made!"

Received the Comet in the ink color.Using this pack for travel. The front pocket under the grab handle is great for airline tickets and can even fit my iPad for quick access.Or, iPad or laptop can be stowed inside main zippered pocket where there is a specified laptop padded pocket. The document pouch is great for a magazine. Love the side zippered pockets for any items you want to gain quick access to during a flight like iPod, gum, games, etc. After stowing all of these items, the main compartment still has plenty of space for a change of clothes, jacket, swimming suit, flip flops, etc. Can adjust the fit for comfortable carry with chest and waist straps.
This is the absolute best backpack I have ever had! I have had north face, Dakine, and several other brands of backpacks and have not been as satisfied as this osprey pack. There are good internal storage compartments for my laptop and iPad and plenty of storage space as well as external side mesh pockets for my Moosejaw nalgene water bottle. The handle on the front gives you the ability to use it as a duffle bag rather than a backpack.
"This is the best backpack you could ever buy"

I use this almost entirely for grad school. It has a padded laptop pocket (15" macbook pro fits). The “document sleeve” perfectly fits my iPad, and theres a little phone pocket. Since all three essentially sit on the laptop padding, I can carry around my whole menagerie of Apple products without individual cases. Even full of electronics, I can easily fit 3 large textbooks and my lunch in the main bag, and a change of clothes in the front. With all the straps and cinches, I can easily carry around 50lbs of crap without getting a backache. After a very rainy bike in, I can attest that it is completely waterproof, and quick drying. Plus, this bag makes my husband super jealous. I win.
I got this guy because I needed a comfortable, laptop-capable bag for my commute to work--about 2 miles, either by bike or on foot. The bag nicely holds my 15.4" laptop, my lunch, and a fully change of clothes (if needed). My previous bag was not very water-resistant, so my stuff would get wet on a rainy day. I'm pleased to say that the fabric on the Comet does a good job keeping water out, but the zippers are not so great--I recommend a pack cover for anything more than a light rain.Only major complaint is that the big zippers tend to catch on the nylon flaps that protect them. Nylon seems to be holding up fine, though. Maybe I just have poor zipping technique...
Honestly, I bought this pack to use for school to carry my books and laptop and it rocks! I bought a M/L as I am only 5'4" but I have a 19" torso and it fits perfectly. The compression straps work great and the padded laptop sleeve protects without needing a case or cover. I plan on taking this bag on short hikes as well. The construction and durability of this pack is superb; I'm already on my third semester with it and it isn't showing any signs of wear at all. Bottom line, I would recommend this pack to anyone and everyone...definitely a Osprey customer for LIFE.
I purchased this backpack for school and for backpacking. I immediately fell in love. It has all the right pockets in all the right places. Last weekend I used my comet to hike up Handies peak in CO and it was perfect. It is a comfortable fit and it holds everything I need!
Like this bag, not completely in love with it. Zippers get in the way a lot, and my friends use the back handle like a rudder when i'm on campus. One of the clips broke after a couple weeks. Holding together well, but not as good as I would like.
