OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pack! This bag is primarily used as an every day/commuting/school bag. It is lightweight, but sturdy enough to carry several textbooks, 13" laptop, etc. It would also serve great for day hikes, although I have not yet used it on any hikes. The compression straps are great, and keep all of your gear secure inside of the pack.,,,,The zippers are covered with a flap of fabric that appears to provide some level of water protection. I have been out in the rain yet with this pack, but I'm sure it would hold up just fine. Overall, I am very happy with the pack, it's build quality, suspension, padding, etc. I have nothing negative to say about this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got the comet for travel. Like the panel loading and pocket configuration. Very well made! Received the Comet in the ink color.Using this pack for travel. The front pocket under the grab handle is great for airline tickets and can even fit my iPad for quick access.Or, iPad or laptop can be stowed inside main zippered pocket where there is a specified laptop padded pocket. The document pouch is great for a magazine. Love the side zippered pockets for any items you want to gain quick access to during a flight like iPod, gum, games, etc. After stowing all of these items, the main compartment still has plenty of space for a change of clothes, jacket, swimming suit, flip flops, etc. Can adjust the fit for comfortable carry with chest and waist straps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile pack that I use for school, weekend getaways, and backpacking trips. This is a fantastic backpack. I was looking for something that was versatile, stylish, and lightweight. Like my other Osprey packs, this is well built and has held up very well. The zippers are high quality and it still looks brand new after almost a year of use. Also, this pack has so many hidden pouches that I often forget where I put things! I say that as a complement to the pack because no space goes unused. Lastly, my favorite feature about this pack is the front handle. It makes traveling with the backpack much easier, especially as a carry on. If you're looking for a high quality versatile pack, pick this one up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pack that will stand the test of time. A++++ This is my third Osprey Comet pack that I have owned and I still own the first two. The construction is very good and the Zipper are first class and will last a long time. The pouches on each side at the bottom are awesome for carrying water bottles and the support straps holding them in do a great job when I'm biking down the trails. I really love the main strap/handle on the front side of the pack, makes it easy to grab out of the truck. Well..... what more can i say? Osprey packs are one of the best out their and the price is very affordable. Thanks for reading and I hope this message finds you well... Regards

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent pack for the hike to work I got this guy because I needed a comfortable, laptop-capable bag for my commute to work--about 2 miles, either by bike or on foot. The bag nicely holds my 15.4" laptop, my lunch, and a fully change of clothes (if needed).,,,,My previous bag was not very water-resistant, so my stuff would get wet on a rainy day. I'm pleased to say that the fabric on the Comet does a good job keeping water out, but the zippers are not so great--I recommend a pack cover for anything more than a light rain.,,,,Only major complaint is that the big zippers tend to catch on the nylon flaps that protect them. Nylon seems to be holding up fine, though. Maybe I just have poor zipping technique...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best backpack you could ever buy I use this almost entirely for grad school. It has a padded laptop pocket (15" macbook pro fits). The “document sleeve” perfectly fits my iPad, and theres a little phone pocket. Since all three essentially sit on the laptop padding, I can carry around my whole menagerie of Apple products without individual cases. Even full of electronics, I can easily fit 3 large textbooks and my lunch in the main bag, and a change of clothes in the front. With all the straps and cinches, I can easily carry around 50lbs of crap without getting a backache. After a very rainy bike in, I can attest that it is completely waterproof, and quick drying. Plus, this bag makes my husband super jealous. I win.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kids On Campus Envy Me :) Honestly, I bought this pack to use for school to carry my books and laptop and it rocks! I bought a M/L as I am only 5'4" but I have a 19" torso and it fits perfectly. The compression straps work great and the padded laptop sleeve protects without needing a case or cover. I plan on taking this bag on short hikes as well. The construction and durability of this pack is superb; I'm already on my third semester with it and it isn't showing any signs of wear at all. Bottom line, I would recommend this pack to anyone and everyone...definitely a Osprey customer for LIFE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, spacious, and good quality. I've been using Osprey packs for a long time now and was thrilled to find their new line of commuter/day-packs. First off, I am a design student and typically have a heavy load for the day on campus ranging from paper to art supplies. This pack holds it all very well with plenty of space left over, including my 15in laptop. Its got great back support and the pack itself is lightweight but durable. The organizers in the main compartment are well thought out and the front two pockets fit a surprising amount of stuff.
