"This is the best backpack you could ever buy" 01/01/12
I use this almost entirely for grad school. It has a padded laptop pocket (15" macbook pro fits). The “document sleeve” perfectly fits my iPad, and theres a little phone pocket. Since all three essentially sit on the laptop padding, I can carry around my whole menagerie of Apple products without individual cases. Even full of electronics, I can easily fit 3 large textbooks and my lunch in the main bag, and a change of clothes in the front. With all the straps and cinches, I can easily carry around 50lbs of crap without getting a backache. After a very rainy bike in, I can attest that it is completely waterproof, and quick drying. Plus, this bag makes my husband super jealous. I win.
"Excellent pack for the hike to work" 12/28/11
I got this guy because I needed a comfortable, laptop-capable bag for my commute to work--about 2 miles, either by bike or on foot. The bag nicely holds my 15.4" laptop, my lunch, and a fully change of clothes (if needed). My previous bag was not very water-resistant, so my stuff would get wet on a rainy day. I'm pleased to say that the fabric on the Comet does a good job keeping water out, but the zippers are not so great--I recommend a pack cover for anything more than a light rain.Only major complaint is that the big zippers tend to catch on the nylon flaps that protect them. Nylon seems to be holding up fine, though. Maybe I just have poor zipping technique...
"Kids On Campus Envy Me :)" 12/11/11
Honestly, I bought this pack to use for school to carry my books and laptop and it rocks! I bought a M/L as I am only 5'4" but I have a 19" torso and it fits perfectly. The compression straps work great and the padded laptop sleeve protects without needing a case or cover. I plan on taking this bag on short hikes as well. The construction and durability of this pack is superb; I'm already on my third semester with it and it isn't showing any signs of wear at all. Bottom line, I would recommend this pack to anyone and everyone...definitely a Osprey customer for LIFE.
"Has everything you would want" 10/10/11
I purchased this backpack for school and for backpacking. I immediately fell in love. It has all the right pockets in all the right places. Last weekend I used my comet to hike up Handies peak in CO and it was perfect. It is a comfortable fit and it holds everything I need!
"Uhhh Ok" 10/07/11
Like this bag, not completely in love with it. Zippers get in the way a lot, and my friends use the back handle like a rudder when i'm on campus. One of the clips broke after a couple weeks. Holding together well, but not as good as I would like.
"Comfortable, spacious, and good quality." 09/26/11
I've been using Osprey packs for a long time now and was thrilled to find their new line of commuter/day-packs. First off, I am a design student and typically have a heavy load for the day on campus ranging from paper to art supplies. This pack holds it all very well with plenty of space left over, including my 15in laptop. Its got great back support and the pack itself is lightweight but durable. The organizers in the main compartment are well thought out and the front two pockets fit a surprising amount of stuff.
"Osprey back for under $100? sure" 09/06/11
great backback. i use it mostly for class because the roomy laptop pocket inside but took it fishing and holds a lot of crap i need. it's incredibly comfortable on the shoulders even when weighted down with physiology books. go with the moss color. totally badass.
"Finally!!!!!!!" 12/09/10
After trying several backpacks (The North Face, Patagonia) that I returned I went with the reviews and got the Osprey Comet. For my daily commutes it is perfect. All the right pockets in all the right places. It isn't too bulky but will fit a laptop, some books and a lunch. Very good quality and good looking. Highly recommended.
"Awesome pack!" 11/19/10
This bag is primarily used as an every day/commuting/school bag. It is lightweight, but sturdy enough to carry several textbooks, 13" laptop, etc. It would also serve great for day hikes, although I have not yet used it on any hikes. The compression straps are great, and keep all of your gear secure inside of the pack. The zippers are covered with a flap of fabric that appears to provide some level of water protection. I have been out in the rain yet with this pack, but I'm sure it would hold up just fine. Overall, I am very happy with the pack, it's build quality, suspension, padding, etc. I have nothing negative to say about this pack.
