The Osprey Comet 30 Pack is an everyday pack for school, work, and day hiking on the weekends. The zippered laptop sleeve steers clear of the rest of your pack, keeping your pricey electronic safe in it's very own padded section. A padded tablet sleeve is also available so the smaller machine won't go bouncing around unprotected. The large main section fits your books, jacket, and lunch, making up the majority of the 30 liters of total space. Organize pens, cords, calculator and more in the front organizational pocket and then your sunglasses will be scratch free in the small stash pocket. Space for everything and side mesh pockets for your water.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT pack I purchased this bag for a deployment where I would not be in uniform. I initially picked it up because of the branding. Many of my fellow workers have them and I just thought it was ok. After almost a year, I have become a true believer in this company. I love this bag and it's versatility and do not know why it took me so long to purchase one. It is rugged and dependable for all types of activities. All the pockets have held up well and after many trips to the bush, the pack still looks great. (minus the sweat stains on the straps) I really like the large cable type rings on the zippers. I use a small carabiner to hang it by the top carrying handle where ever I go. Love it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great everyday backpack I've had this backpack for almost four years now, and It has always done everything that i needed it to do. I have used it everyday as a student, sometimes carry up to four engineering textbooks at a time, and have never faced issues with capacity, comfort, or other failure. Over this time the only noticeable wear on the bad is a small (2-3 in) tear in the side pockets that I use to carry my water bottle. I have also used it as a pack to travel over night trips and occasionally I'll do some day hiking with it, and have never had complaints with it in any of these uses either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE backpack This backpack is awesome. I was looking for something not to bulky and big but still have enough compartments to orginize. I was looking for a backpack for traveling, planes, trains, cars..etc. it is so well constructed I know exactly where my stuff is when I need it. It fits even under the seat on the plane which I like a lot, having all my very personal documents and valuables, on long trips I am very skeptical to put my personal bag above in the bin, in case I fall asleep, I feel good because the backpack is right there by me. Super awesome compartments with lots of different pockets for different items. It's perfect for school, travels, or even just a day out an about. Comfy shoulder straps and back with cushion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for Multi Use I have been looking to replace my North Face Vault for a long time now. I found the Osprey Comet and immediately fell in love with it! I've had it a few weeks now and still am so happy I chose it. I chose the Osprey Comet because it seemed very versitle. I use this bag as a work bag, carry on, and plan on using it hiking/camping/ 14'er summiting. The pockets are well laid out, the water bottle pockets are nice, and the front pocket is well organized. Can't wait for years of use from this bag. Blue is awesome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pack Traveling weekly. Bought to carry laptop, notebooks, chargers and stuff. Overall an awesome pack, great looking well constructed. Straps are wide and comfortable. Really like the handle on the front, works great at the Security checkpoint at the airport. Top handle is comfortable and a little stretchy, really nice. Wish it had a rollabord sleve to slip over my rolling suitcase handle when extended. I was able to rig a loop from the waist strap that slips through an opening in the top of the bag that clips the pack to my suitcase. Works ok, but a sleve would be better. Pack swallows up gear and would be easy to overstuff it, but I just leave the side straps clipped to remind me not to weigh it down too much but it is nice to know that I could easily stuff gifts, jacket or a pair of shoes in it if need be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So glad we found this My son needed a new backpack when he started middle school this September. They have to carry around a 3 inch binder every day so we were having trouble finding a backpack in local stores that was large enough to fit that binder plus lunch box, extra shoes, jacket, etc. but wasn't too enormous or heavy. He, being a brand conscious 6th grader, wanted North Face. I found and ordered two nice looking North Face backpacks on the Moosejaw website and also stumbled upon this Osprey Comet option which was on sale. I wasn't familiar with their products but after watching a favorable Youtube video review from a dude who seems quite dedicated to reviewing backpacks, I decided to give it a try too. When I showed my son a photo of this one before the ordered arrived he said, "Why did you order that one? I'm not interested." But when they all arrived and he tried them out (putting in all of his stuff and seeing if they were comfortable to carry around) the Osprey was hands down the winner. He really liked the look (and I guess the giant logo) of one of the North Face bags, but even he noticed the attention to detail and sturdy construction of the Osprey. He loves all the cool features (compression straps, comfortable padding, fancy zipper pulls, nooks and crannies in "organization panel" plus cute little sunglass compartment to stash his bus pass in and so on). He is really excited about it and just said this morning, "I think this bag will probably last all through middle school, but if I need a new one for high school or college can we get another from this same brand?" I'd be fine with that - we spent more money on the Osprey (even on sale) than I had planned, but in the past I've purchased cheaper backpacks and ended up having to replace them every year, so ultimately I think this is a good investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for bike commuting Use this pack everyday for my commute. More than enough space for clothes, lunch, and extras. Top pocket is perfect for keys, phone, and wallet. The front pocket has good organization for bike tools and things like that. Pack is comfortable, the bag itself is very light. My daily commute is about a 12 mile round trip and this bag doesn't wear on me. Side note, bag has pretty good visibility.
