OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Serviceable but really awkward The Airporter is essentially a great big sack that only comes in one size - humungous. Unless you have the very largest of backpacks it will swallow what you have and leave a lot of flappy space to deal with. It's like putting a 5lb sand bag into a 30 gallon trash bag. The single shoulder strap is worthless given the design. ,,,,On the plus side it does fold up into a nice neat package, is lightweight, and will protect your bag from most abuse. It needs a redesign - 1) make several sizes so that we can get a better fit for our packs. 2) ditch the shoulder strap and put in a couple of strap handles on the top and sides so that we can carry thing like a duffle bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets your pack from point A to point B. I bought this to take my pack on a cross-country flight as checked luggage. Having read the horror stories online about people checking packs without some sort of cover, I decided that this would be a worthwhile investment. After shimmying my very full Gregory Deva 70 pack in, there was still a lot of extra headroom for random stuff, like a pillow. ,,,,Even though the airporter has a shoulder strap, I wouldn't rely on it for any serious hauling. The only thing this product should be used for is to simply cover your pack to keep the straps from getting caught in all that baggage handling machinery.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for the traveler, extra security and cleaner storage. I thought that this product would be a little more duffel bag like but the material is very thin and light. It has held up well through my travels across the globe though so it is durable. There is plenty of space for your pack as I have the Crescent 110 and can load that up and have space to spare. It collapses nicely and can be stored in your pack conveniently in its built in storage pouch...though not as pretty as when I first received it. It is nice to have something to store your pack in forgeign lands to keep people out of the side zips of your pack in the airport. Good product for its intended purpose or for storage to keep the dirt and dust of if you are in Afghanistan like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for keeping my pack clean and safe on the plane When I bought my backpack with the intent of using it for travel as well as hiking, I wanted something that I could bundle it up in so that I can check it as airline baggage without having to worry that it would get destroyed in the process I can picture straps getting torn off, the bag getting ripped, etc. The Airporter bag is lightweight material, but should help to keep my new pack clean and safe. The shoulder strap seems adequate, but I'm planning on pulling the pack out of the bag as soon as I get it off of the plane no sense in having all that great suspension if it's tied up in a bag, right?!. Another nice feature is that the bag folds up into itself, taking up only a small am

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Carolyn and I both recommend the Airporter. It gives good value for its cost. The Osprey Airporter did its job, protecting our packs through four flight legs from Ohio to Arizona and back. The Airporter is easy to use (it is basically just a zippered bag). The only down side is that the carrying strap is awful uncomfortable if you have to carry a loaded Airporter very far. During our trip we discovered an alternative use for the Airporter. We hiked to Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon taking empty Airporters with us. After camping at the bottom, we used our Airporters as duffles to send our tents and sleeping bags back to the rim with the mules:)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Protection Against Throwers? I bought the Airporter to protect my Bora 80 backpack from getting torn up when it was checked luggage. So far so good. The thing is light weight which is nice for carrying it but it doesn't feel like it would be overly protective or durable. The shoulder strap isn't removable so it could potentially get caught up in the baggage conveyer belt. The Osprey Airporter is a lot longer/taller than I expected and there is no way to cinch up the extra fabric. My Bora 80 could grow at least another 6" taller and still fit. As it is, it feels kind of sloppy in the LZ.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Used this to protect my fully loaded Gregory Palisade pack with hiking poles and ice axe while flying from San Diego to Seattle & back. Didn't expect it to be bombproof at this price, but it sustained only scuffs & minor abrasions while protecting the pack & contents. I agree with other reviewers that the shoulder strap is next to worthless, but while carrying the 40+ lb pack at any time I wasn't getting it on or off the luggage carousel or scale, I pulled off the cover & carried it by the pack straps. Just stuffed the cover under the top pack pocket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Bulky and Beautiful The Osprey Airporter LZ is a great product. It'll fit any backpack that I'd be carrying (I have an Arcteryx Bora 80 by the way). When traveling, who wants to place all of their gear in one of the airlines plastic bags for protection. If your're like me you usually come back from traveling with more stuff than you left with and in that respect the Airporter comes in handy. My only reservations would be that the shoulder strap could be padded more and it would be nice it the seams were taped... That's it, Peace
