Carry all of your gear in comfort with the Osprey Aether 85 Pack, a backpack that can withstand heavy loads and long excursions. Custom molded and sized hipbelt and shoulder straps ensure comfort, and Straight Jacket compression straps keep the weight balanced. There's a reason these packs have been around for over eight years, and it probably has something to do with their durability, their versatility, and the confidence the users have in their Aether pack. Do your back a favor with this pack. Your back would give you a great big hug to thank you, but that is sort of impossible and could get complicated.

"Solid pack - great functional design, distributes weight well" 04/15/12
Easy to dial in a comfortable fit with shoulder straps/hip belt adjustments, although hip belt sizing does run large. All gear loops/attachments are well placed and functional. Easy pack access through front panel zipper, sleeping bag compartment is very convenient. I do question the utility of the detachable top pocket/lumbar pack. Love the tundra green.
"Your back, legs, and whole body will love this pack" 02/21/12
I bought this pack after my back was killing me in Wyoming's Tetons and Yellowstone area, and after being stubborn and cheap through the Black Hills. Finally broke down before Lassen forest and Kings Range on the Lost Coast Cove in NoCal, and bought this pack. Within the first 6 hours I decided it was the best money I have ever spent. Osprey has put alot of time into making a practical, comfortable, and reliable backpack, and they succeeded. If your looking for a new pack buy this. Your back, legs, and whole body will love this Pack.
"Good, solid pack" 11/27/11
Used this pack to climb Rainier. It performed well. Held all my gear for that climb. Felt pretty stable, even though it was the heaviest load I've ever had to carry. Straps adjust easily, so it's easy to balance the load where and how you need it. If you're looking for a pack in this size range (5000-5600 cu. inches), this one is a good pick and a solid value.
"Not my favourite Osprey pack" 10/31/11
The good:+It's pretty light weight for its volume.+The harness and hip belt is easy to adjust.+The new side compression, that can be routed to go on the inside of the side pockets, is a lot better than on previous models. The not so good:-Osprey litres are smaller than other manufacturers.-Access to the front pockets are cumbersome due to the compassion straps.-Side pockets would be better if they were a bit bigger.-I wish the top lid would be easier to detach.
"Best pack I've ever owned!!!" 09/25/11
Can't say enough positive things about this pack. I've owned many packs...NorthFace, Gregory, etc...but none have compared to this one! Plenty of room, plenty of bells & whistles. The comfort of this pack is what is amazing. I took my sons on a week long trip to Isle Royale last month and I had this thing packed, weighing in at just under 50 lbs and felt as though I was cheating...seriously...absolutely incredible pack. The harness/belt/straps make the feel of this pack seem next to nothing. I'll be buying another as a Christmas present for my son. Osprey nailed it and so did the Partridge Creek Moosejaw staff....THANK YOU!!!
"Aether 85 Exceeded Expectations!" 08/08/11
Took this pack to New Mexico and it ruled! Had to say this pack met and exceeded all my expectations! There was a lot of space, I carried personal gear, crew gear and lots of water, so packed weighed somwhere north of 65 pounds. The pack steyed solid and did what it was supposed to! The removable fanny pack was great for side hikes! When you buy this get the 3 Liter bladder, you won't be disappointed. Again thanks Moosejaw Ann Arbor sales staff!
"a solid choice for long backpacking trips but could be lighter" 08/06/11
I've taken this pack on several 5-8 day backpacking+/-climbing trips, and it has always had capacity to spare. Despite being exposed to crazy rain and snow, I've not noticed any frank leakage. It rests quite comfortably on my back even with up to 14 kg in it. The internal load compression strap has proven quite useful; it has made others jealous. The belts tend to run large; fortunately, the Moosejaw people are awesome, so they allowed me to get a small belt with my medium pack (At the time, I was 70 kg and 178 cm.). This pack does have some unnecessary extras, so I will likely replace it with an ultralight pack in the near future. We’ve had a good run....
"Stable, comfortable pack" 07/03/11
So far I have used this pack for my Rainier climb and a week backpacking the Grand Tetons. The pack worked wonderfully. It is very stable and doesn't move around like the other packs that I've tried (Gregory). I like the idea that you can take the top lid off and turn it into a waist pack since the lid has build in waist straps. I was able to put my rain gears, a 2 liter bottle, water filter, and misc other stuffs in it and was comfortable carrying it around my waist. This pack is going to be my favorite until I have to upgrade to something bigger.
"Looks So Good" 06/29/11
I bought this pack in the Magma Orange. I try not to be so shallow as to think that the color is important, but it does look REALLY nice in person. I sometimes wish there were more internal compartments, but rarely ever run into a situation where that is particularly important. I love the separate sleeping bag compartment at the bottom and the fact that it is actually connected to the greater part of the bag. I mostly use this for all kinds of gear that I want really quick access to. I might be wrong, but I imagine that I look really cool wearing this pack on the trail...or in my bathroom.
"Big "Sack" to hold lots of Gear for extended treks" 05/24/11
This pack is very good, holding up to the abuse of Zaleski State Forest and 50+ pounds of gear this past weekend. The multiple pockets worked great to maintain gear organization, with easy systematic access! Wish I had purchased the hydration pack and extra gear pockets when I bought it at Ann Arbor Moosejaw. When buying this pack, purchase the pack cover, you will be thankful ,keeps tree sap off at night and gear dry during foul weather. The only con was the belt would loosen up and slide down my hips. Will be going on a 10 Day hiking expidition to New Mexico in June this will be the true test.
"An All Around Pack Built Upon Osprey's Solid Legacy" 04/28/11
I bought this pack as a backup for my Osprey Silhouette ( a pack that keeps on giving and giving and giving.....) It is still early in the game, but all indications point to another solid performer. Two of the great enhancements on the new Aether pack, is it's significant reduction in weight, and increased accessories. I will be using this pack in a couple of month's for a weeklong Sierra trip and have complete confidence in it.
"Great Backpack" 03/25/11
This backpack is very comfortable and fits very well, taking the weight and distributes it well. This is a good pack for an extended weekend and I plan on taking this pack when hiking on the AT. The pack is spacious with good pockets that are able to accommodate anything. I actually ended up putting my tent in the elastic pocket on the back of the pack and with the straps it is very secure. Great all around pack. I would recommend it to a friend for sure.
