"Just as easy as a canister stove" 02/23/12
i was looking for a stove to cook lunch on at work, so i started with the easiest out there a canister stove ... so about half a million $5 cans of fuel later I started to think I may need something a little better than a pocket rocket.so here i am, it was on sale nice adjustable flame unlike most out there its not just an on or off stove.if i was shopping all over again I'd still pick this stove
"A very versatile stove" 11/09/11
I've owned this stove for about a year now and have used it on three longer hikes in the Swedish mountains. So far I have not had any problems with it though I have used the cleaning tool after every use. It does take some time to learn how to pre-heat the stove but just experiment a couple of times at home in a safe area with the fuel you are likely to use the most. Its all about starting the stove at the right moment, when the pre-heating fuel is just about to burn out. The only drawback I can think of is that it doesnt deliver the same amount of power as for instance the MSR XGK EX.
"Buy One!" 09/29/10
I currently own three Multi-Fuel stoves. The MSR DragonFly, the Primus Vari-Fuel and the Optimus Nova. The Nova is the most compact of the three with its curved legs. The flame adjust is very good on both the MSR and the Nova, the Vari-Fuel only has a control knob on the fuel tank which causes a delay at the flame. The Nova and Primus both have solid aluminum vs the brittle MSR plastic pumps...This is probably the largest differentiating factor. The Nova and Vari both have the same style of fuel line purge that prevents you from getting sprayed with fuel. The Nova has a quick disconnect fuel line which the others do not. To me, the Optimus Nova is the clear winner in all aspects.
"Industructable & Reliable Stove" 07/03/09
Great stove, well worth the money, the perfect stove! I wanted something that would work not only in the summer months but also for snow camping. The stove is very easy to use, easy to light works in any weather condition. It has a nifty magnet tool that makes cleaning it supper easy. It’s pretty quite, doesn’t sound like a jet engine like some of the other liquid fuel stoves. It simmers just as well as it boils water, can even cook steaks and scrambled eggs perfectly. Light weight and built like a rock. Would defiantly recommend using the wind shield even if it’s not breezy, it really speeds up boiling water and helps conserve fuel. I highly recommend this stove.
"Lightweight and Durable!" 06/06/09
I used these on atrip from the northern california coast up to BC. The fit in my pack well, took the abuse I usually demand from my gear, and served me well. There are alot of other cook systems out there..but I found this best suited my lightweight needs and was versitile enough to provide me with great meals during my trip!
"Great system" 04/20/09
I bought this system because you can adjust the flame, unlike having to pump other systems. Works great. Extremely compact and light weight. Very simple use as well, although there are more parts than others, not an issue. Would recommend.
"The best backpacking stove I've ever used!" 02/08/08
Awesome stove!! I replace my whisperlite with it and it makes a huge difference! The stove starts right up. It's easy to prime and holds a steady flame. The pump is all metal, MUCH better than my MSR plastic pump. The only issue is when disconnecting the fuel line. Make sure ALL the air pressure is released first, or else all the fuel will come shooting out under pressure when you disconnect the hose.
"I think it is very good for camping but not for climbing." 12/13/07
I use this stove for 2 years. I use to it. But it is more complex than other stoves. if the reliability is the most important thing for you this is not the stove for you. I broke the nut under the stove. On the other hand you can use almost every kind of fuel and it is very light weight. You can adjust fire so you can cook delicious meal. I think it is very good for camping but not for climbing.
