The Omega Pacific ISO Cold Forged Jake Screw-Lok Carabiner for years has set the standard for HMS climbing carabiners, and features a shape that safely orients the load. The Jake binere centers the belay/rappel device so that in double-rope rappels neither strand of rope is pinched on the spine, which helps ensure a smooth and predictable rappel. This Omeaga Pacific carabiner is also equipped with a unique side-swing gate the offers greater gate clearance for even better ease of use. The Jake is for sure one of the coolest carabiners on the market.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light weight, big mouth, keeps rope centered don't get just one. Awesome carabiner!!!. With the gate opening past the back of the carabiner, you can get this binner around almost any harness and rope combination. I upgraded biners when I found out my biner didn't allow me to go through both straps of my harness and easily rotate to get into set for my repel device. Some on suggested the jake and I now plan on buying a few more. They are light weight and in adventure races you want durable, lightweight gear. The curved top allows the rope/figure 8 to stay centered, in the top of the biner. My regular D omega biner was suseptible to the rope sliding against the game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I reviewed the newer version of this accidentaly, who cares buy this biner !!! I love this biner. Its most likely for most uses the last biner you will ever need to buy, I love this thing. Most of my rack is these big jake biners, and its all i buy now other than biners for quick-draws or some special application. The gate opening is large and opens to the side, and the shape works great for clipping into just about anything. The screw lock gate is smooth and has worn very well on all my biners, far better than most other biners Ive used. Great product. Love the maddness !!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but hard to use with a gri-gri Pretty nice screw gate 'biner. The OP screw mechanism is my favorite. Really easy to operate with gloves on and it's easy to get torque on the knurled tube when it starts to ice up. It's also really easy to use at anchors. The reason for only 3 stars is that the 'biner isn't friendly to gri-gri belay device, so it's kind of a hassle to use for sport climbing. The shape just barely clears the hole in a gri-gri so there's a lot of interference jamming when loading and unloading the belay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best locking 'biner to have! This was the first locking 'biner I ever purchased 4 years ago, and I haven't looked back once. The side opening clearance is the greatest unique feature and allows for such easy loading of the rope. The awesome design of the 'biner itself keeps it in the right place so the dreaded cross-loading is almost a non-issue. If you're looking to get a first locking 'biner get this one! It's heavy and a tad bit expensive but so worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This thing works well Though I origionally loved the Jake, now I'm not such a big fan mainly for the reason that its bulky and heavy. I've used it for a belay carabiner a bunch, but now I use a Rocklock and have never looked back. the jake is just too big. and the extra opening size gained by the offset gate isn't really necessary when belaying.,,Overall, the jake is too big, heavy, and expensive to purchase and I don't reccomend them to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantstic Lightweight Carabiner that performs well every time. I love this carabiner for several reasons. It's very lightweight. The pear shape of it orients it properly and it stays there. I find this especially helpful since I belay groups of kids regularly on a high ropes course and tower. The carabiner rarely moves out of it's ideal place. Also, the gate opens on an angle to allow even more room for clipping into harnesses etc. Great carabiner with several advantages over most others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, great design, very strong - Worth the money and then some Many people say that a biner is a biner. However, if you have larger hands or maybe even clumsy hands a light biner like this one is perfect for you. The offset screw lock opens up for increased entry space. This allows larger rope (or clumsy larger hands) to flick the rope in easily. Despite having a slightly larger size, these biners are light, which makes them a must for any climber, and any style of climbing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product at a good price This has definitely become one of my go-to carabiners. I generally don't use a belay devices so It's wide end is perfect for girth hitch when im rappelling or belaying. It's lightweight but stout. The open gate cants to the side when opened making it all the easier to load or unload rope. Excellent product, I have a few on my rack.
