The Omega Pacific ISO Cold Forged Jake Screw-Lok Carabiner for years has set the standard for HMS climbing carabiners, and features a shape that safely orients the load. The Jake binere centers the belay/rappel device so that in double-rope rappels neither strand of rope is pinched on the spine, which helps ensure a smooth and predictable rappel. This Omeaga Pacific carabiner is also equipped with a unique side-swing gate the offers greater gate clearance for even better ease of use. The Jake is for sure one of the coolest carabiners on the market.

"Great product at a good price" 04/21/11
This has definitely become one of my go-to carabiners. I generally don't use a belay devices so It's wide end is perfect for girth hitch when im rappelling or belaying. It's lightweight but stout. The open gate cants to the side when opened making it all the easier to load or unload rope. Excellent product, I have a few on my rack.
"Awesome Piece of Gear, with the biggest of mouths!" 03/03/11
This is the first and only Carabiner that I have used for belaying, It has never shifted and cross loaded on me, it has a big mouth that can fit 2 strands plus if you need it to, and when it is screwed shut it is not going anywhere anytime soon. I have had my original for 2 1/2 years and only a little of the coating where the rope rubs has gone shinny, other than that shows no sign of letting up anytime soon!
"Giant mouth carabiner!" 03/03/11
This was my first carabiner I ever used to belay, I love the twisted gate which allows for a huge opening!, allowing it to easily accommodate 2 strands for rapelling. It is also a beefy piece of gear that isn't going to fail!
"Fantstic Lightweight Carabiner that performs well every time." 02/13/11
I love this carabiner for several reasons. It's very lightweight. The pear shape of it orients it properly and it stays there. I find this especially helpful since I belay groups of kids regularly on a high ropes course and tower. The carabiner rarely moves out of it's ideal place. Also, the gate opens on an angle to allow even more room for clipping into harnesses etc. Great carabiner with several advantages over most others.
"Best locking 'biner to have!" 01/23/11
This was the first locking 'biner I ever purchased 4 years ago, and I haven't looked back once. The side opening clearance is the greatest unique feature and allows for such easy loading of the rope. The awesome design of the 'biner itself keeps it in the right place so the dreaded cross-loading is almost a non-issue. If you're looking to get a first locking 'biner get this one! It's heavy and a tad bit expensive but so worth it.
"This thing works well" 12/06/10
Though I origionally loved the Jake, now I'm not such a big fan mainly for the reason that its bulky and heavy. I've used it for a belay carabiner a bunch, but now I use a Rocklock and have never looked back. the jake is just too big. and the extra opening size gained by the offset gate isn't really necessary when belaying.Overall, the jake is too big, heavy, and expensive to purchase and I don't reccomend them to my friends.
"I reviewed the newer version of this accidentaly, who cares buy this biner !!!" 09/26/10
I love this biner. Its most likely for most uses the last biner you will ever need to buy, I love this thing. Most of my rack is these big jake biners, and its all i buy now other than biners for quick-draws or some special application. The gate opening is large and opens to the side, and the shape works great for clipping into just about anything. The screw lock gate is smooth and has worn very well on all my biners, far better than most other biners Ive used. Great product. Love the maddness !!!
"Quality, Looks, and Great Design" 02/10/10
I first bought one of these about two years ago love the locking design (lock goes to the side), Really useful for climbing and all around quick access. Real sturdy as well. Only down side is the cost and people seem to get sticky fingers when you leave these unattended.
"Solid, strong carabiner with a large open mouth." 11/12/09
This carabiner is a great belay biner. Solid feel to it, nothing rattles when you shake it. It has a very large opening due to it opening to the side, making it easy to clip and unclip. The screw is large and solid. This thing was built too last.
