The Nemo Hornet 1P Tent is a ultralight tent for the solo backpacker. At just 2lbs packaged, you can toss it in your backpack and not worry about weighing yourself down. The poles are hubbed, creating a single pole so it'll be pretty difficult to leave it behind when tearing down camp. The single door provides enough space to enter with ease and there is enough room to sit up on the inside. Throw on the fly to prevent wind and rain from ruining your bed and it'll also create a vestibule for storing gear. Sleep tight, bug free.

FEATURES of the Nemo Hornet 1P Tent

  • A Large Side door makes entry/exit and access to your gear easier, and provides more coverage in the rain
  • Includes Luxury Details like the Light Pockets, volumizing guyouts, and watertight compression stuff sack
  • No other 2-person freestanding tents on the market provide Two doors and two Vestibules in the 2 lbs category
  • Hubbed pole intersections create a single pole for quick setup
  • True tub floor construction reduces seam construction and seam tape
  • Triangulated volumizing guyouts increase interior space by upto 15% using included volumizing clips
  • Inner tent has a built-in privacy panel for extended coverage and security

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think this tent will be perfect Just bought this tent and set it up. So smart, so easy, so fast. Maybe it's because I'm old enough (73) to have worked with a multitude of tents from my first one in 1954 to the last one I bought a year or so ago, but, in my opinion, this one doesn't deserve a single demerit or concern. Only praise. If you go single but like some extra room, get the 2. The 1 is plenty big for me, especially given the spacious vestibule. The side door is far superior to one at the end of a tent. Only 6 stakes (included). The Jake's Feet rain fly attachments make getting your rain fly on super easy and fast. You get what you pay for. I think this tent will prove to be a great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it on the AT The 1P hornet is certainly an UL tent, no doubt about it. With that comes some pros and cons, so be sure you know what you're asking for. This tent is sleek, super easy/fast to set up, excellent rain fly, and I definitely recommend NEMO's Footprint with it to complete the package. It really is an excellent tent, but as with all UL gear, you MUST be careful with it, most especially during long distance activities. If you treat it well, it'll treat you well. I would know, this was my home for 4 months on the AT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tent for Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike I was pretty nervous about this tent going into my trip. I am a pretty avid hammock user and wasn't excited to be back on the ground. I was surprised to find out how many occasions on this hike I was glad I had this tent instead of the hammock. The space this tent offers is ideal for one person. Trying to stretch it to two people would never work. I could sit up in the middle without rubbing my head against the bug net. The light pocket at the crown of the bug net was perfectly located and was exactly wide enough to be compatible with Goal Zero's Venture 30 battery pack. The fact that this tent is free standing is ideal and made set up a sinch. It stood the test of several pretty terrible storms of rain, snow, and severe winds reaching a minimum of 60 mph gusts. Its not too hard to set up quickly in said conditions, but things will most likely get damp because I never figured out a way to set up the fly first. There is a certain order you have to follow in set up. The ground sheet made a huge difference. Nice to have that integrated into the set up as opposed to a piece of heavy, dirty, and clumsy piece of tyvek. The new fly seemed much more rugged and durable than the first. After that improvement the shelter became even more bomb proof in my mind and I felt like I could safely ride out any storm hunkered down in the Hornet 1P.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Thru Hike Tent I used this for my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail and couldn't have been happier with it. It's an easy set up which is convenient after a tiring 20-something mile day. I was originally hesitant of getting a 1p instead of 2 but it was way more spacious than other 1Ps that I have tried. Being taller than the average female, I loved that I was able to sit up without my head against the top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So perfect. Don't know its there till you need it! I used this tent for PCT thru-hike and loved it. The tent is literally so light and stuffs into a pack so easily that you won't even know it is in your pack until you need it. I am 6'2'' and the tent had ample space, even enough to cook dinner on my pocket rocket inside of the tent during desert wind/sand storms. The headroom is good as well. I was able to sit straight up to stretch or to eat upright in the tent when weather was a mess. Additionally, the tent is very water resistant. I cannot recall a single time on the trail where there was water in my tent, down pours or snow accumulation, I was always dry. For the those clear but buggy nights this tent really shines since it is basically a free standing bug net. This was extremely nice for those clear starry nights in Yosemite during mosquito season. It is a cowboy campers dream tent. It is also bullet proof when it comes to wind. Stake it down and you are not going anywhere. I also found it incredibly easy to set up plus great for small spaces and stealth camping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tent, extremely light, get creative in the r This will be my tent for an AT thru hike next year. I've been practicing with it and it is possible to so something akin to a fly and footprint setup, but it's not to be left that way. Handles wind and rain very well. Can be tricky to get the fly just right since the overlap between the fly and tub floor is small

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kept me dry during hailstorms at 4500 metres I was wary about taking my new Hornet 1P on a seven day trek into the Tibetan borderlands of Yading. The average altitude was 4200m and we experienced pretty much continual rain for the whole trip. I was surprised (and obviously relieved) to find that the tent stood up well to the continual rain - even during thunder and rainstorms. I had to move the tent at one point because our chosen campground became swamped - but that wasn't a fault of the tent, which stayed dry despite sitting in 3 inches of water. I found the tent a little cramped - just enough room for me and my pack in the vestibule. But it was comfortable and roomy enough to change gear in. Ii is well ventilated and so I wouldn't recommend it for camping in snow or icy conditions. My only criticisms of the tent are: 1. Pitching in the rain means the floor gets wet as the fly goes up last. Fortunately I'd brought a sponge for cleaning pans and this helped wipe up the water. 2. The inner tent zip kept getting caught on the fly - I worried it would rip (but it didn't). 3. The extra guylines were hard to see - people kept tripping over them, so I had to stick walking poles around them as warning markers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good. Just got this tent and had my 11 yr old set it up. No problem figuring it out. No supervision! Very light and delicat, looking forward to using it for a 20 mile backpacking trip next month. More reviews to follow after thAt trip. But, it is easy to set up and very light.
