The Mystery Ranch Pitch 40 Pack is a climbing pack for rock, ice or alpine. Head towards the summit with this 40 liter pack and you'll have plenty of room for the essentials plus exterior straps for adding additional equipment. The roll top closure prevents the rain and snow from entering and trashing your gear. On lighter days, use the side compression straps to bring in the bag. It is compatible with hydration reservoirs so you won't have to stop and grab a bottle every time you're thirsty. The shoulder straps offer enough cushion and adjustment for a whole day of comfort and the hipbelt is removable for light days and cinches to your preference for heavy-load days.

Well built, simple pack for a decent priceI have a few weekend and day trips with this pack covering anywhere from 10-30 miles carrying 20 - 50 lbs and so far I have no complaints. I am 5'8" 165 lbs athletic build with ~31 in waist and ordered a size medium. If my waist was any larger I think I may want a large given the size of the hip belt. In terms of torso size, the medium fits well. For warmer seasons this pack is ideal for up to a few nights but for winter would be most suitable for day trips.

Highly Comfortable and Versatile PackI bought this a couple of weeks ago to replace my existing pack. I am a climber, so I wanted something durable that had some purpose-built climbing features (rope strap, ice-tool holders, etc.), but I also wanted a pack that would be comfortable and weather-resistant for hiking and travel. This pack fits the bill and looks good doing it.
First, this thing holds a ton of stuff. I recently took this with me for a long weekend in Colorado that involved some hiking. I was able to fit everything I needed, including a laptop and tablet in the pack with no trouble. Even more impressive though, is that the pack is insanely comfortable, even when fully loaded. Walking around airports and even while hiking I occasionally forgot I was wearing it. I have read that Mystery Ranch packs are renowned for how well they carry and I can see why.
This thing is seriously well made. Everything feels very sturdy and solid and the materials are just burly, even though the pack isn't heavy. It hasn't taken too much serious abuse on rock yet, but so far the pack still looks like I just took it out of the box.
Apart from this, the other thing that sold me on this bag over a lot of other climbing-oriented packs, were the additional pockets. A lot of bags just have the main compartment with maybe a small accessory pocket in the lid, this thing has two really usable additional zipper pockets (with splash-proof zips!), one really large on in front, and one medium sized one on top.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with this pack. Highly recommended
