"Love it!" 03/22/13
This is my first down coat, and I looked for a long time before settling on this one. It's soft and lightweight and a joy to put on in the cold northeast winter. Hard to avoid all puffiness in these coats, but the drawstring at the waist helps. When it arrived totally flat in a small box, I thought there was no way the coat could do the job. But it's kept me very warm in windy, 20-30 degree weather so far. The little features--like the fleece-lined upper zipper, so it doesn't chafe at the mouth/chin---are the best. I'm 5'2", and the medium comes to my mid-thighs. If you're a tall gal, you may want to consider this when purchasing.
"Missing something" 03/17/13
Bought this coat based on the reviews being mostly great. But this coat has 3 big drawbacks. 1) Needs to have snaps on front as an option to zipping 2) Needs to have drawstring at bottom of coat so cold wind doesn't blow up into coat (as it does now)3) Is not windproofI think this coat is not as warm as it promises to be. I was going to return it but needed it right away. I wouldn't suggest this coat if you live in a windy area. Pros:1) The fleece inside - just makes it soft. Not really adding to any warmth. 2) I do like the cuffs inside the sleeves.3) Is a "packable" coat - stores really small. Can squish coat into a small space.Hope this helps!Lori - NY
"Awesome winter coat, well made, light and warm" 02/07/13
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks Moosejaw!!! I love wearing this coat for cold Canadian winters, it's not heavy or bulky, fits nicely and wonderfully warm. Could not find a better price than Moosejaw, and I tried really hard. I am 5'4" and 110 lbs, and I ordered an XS and it fits perfectly with some room for layering. Did I mention the custumer service? Awesome!!
"Great Jacket, stylish and well constructed" 12/01/12
I bought this in Large for my wife whom is 5'9 and slender (I am not going to disclose weight, but she is quite fit) she always has issues with coats fitting her sleeve length. The sleeves fit perfectly and as other reviews state the drawstring at the waist will gather excess material. Her only complaint so far is that it is too warm for the mild winter we have had thus far. She is looking forward to being able to wear more consistently when the temp hits teens and singles.
"Warm, Comfortable, Stylish AND Versatile -- HIGHLY RECOMMEND!" 07/01/12
This coat stands out against others! The down fill is thick and warm, and I can attest to that through last winter. Even with temperatures in the low teens with wind chill, I was comfy and warm in the MH Downtown. I wore it to work over my dressy clothes, and also wore it casually--goes with everything. The fur trim around the hood is nice and doesn't fall out, and it frames the face well. Also the fit of the hood is outstanding. I wore this with the hood up many times, and it allowed a great range of motion. The cuffs at the sleeves are a great selling point -- they don't let the cold air in!
"Like your own personal furnace" 04/27/12
This jacket is A-MAZ-ING. I'd always bought the department store jackets before that weight about 15 pounds and don't keep you that warm and finally invested in this super warm down coat after moving to Chicago. I was skeptical about how warm it would be after arriving in a super tiny box, but after being out and about in downtown Chicago, I actually had to unzip the coat at times because I was so toasty. Beware though if you have long arms, I originally ordered an extra small with my average size being a zero, and the arms are cut a little short so I moved up to a small. Other than that this coat will be your best friend out in the snow.
". . You have to buy it . . for REAL!" 01/15/12
. . no joke. By far the BEST coat out in the market as I own many many many. I also have the shorter version of this. The inside of this coat is especially the BESTpart. So padded, soft and molding. You will pick this up every time you go out. I live in Buffalo, and wore it in 9 degree F weather. It kept me so warm and comfortable. Trust me, you will not be disappointed it. True to size. LOVE LOVE . . worth every little cent. I loved it so much I had to buy both the long and short version. I feel like I'm neglecting the other 30 coats I own in my closet! Moooooooosejaw rocks!!!! Getting ready to use my REWARD points for some FREE stuff : )
"Warm and not bulky." 12/27/11
This coat is the perfect length (I'm 5'9" 140) and it keeps me so warm on long walks to and from class and the parking lots. The temps can be around 10 - 20 degrees with winds up to 30mph and I'm toasty warm in this coat. It's not bulky at all and stores away nicely when I'm not using it in the summer, fall, and spring. The pockets are nice and warm too if you don't have gloves on. So glad I purchased this coat. LOVE IT!
"Very thin" 12/27/11
I did love the jacket, but it's very thin. Thinnest down jacket I have seen-- regardless of fill warmth/weight.While the details are great - removable (by a zipper) hood and faux fur collar, wrist cuffs inside of the sleeves, great pockets, etc., the thinness makes it not worth the money.I found it to be much longer than I anticipated, as well. Almost calf length. I am 5'6" and 125 lbs...I bought a medium.I agree with other reviews saying the sleeves/arms are short.
