Bought the black version of this jacket for myself when my mom refused to bleach my dirty not-so-white MH Lowdown jacket any longer. Climbing/outdoors and white apparel do not go together. And my Patagonia Downtown Loft Parka is a little too city-nice to be strutting around at the crags. This, however, is perfect. It looked quite slimming for a poofy jacket, covers my butt, and is the softest down jacket I own. Did I mention the collar is lined with uber soft microfiber? Warmth? This is just as warm and cozy (if not warmer!) as the Downtown Loft Parka which has 800 down. For sizing references, I got the XS and am 5'0 and 100 lbs.
I wear this from October till April in Minnesota. I'm usually cold, this jacket is so warm and breathes well, I never feel overheateded or too puffy in this jacket. It has held up well this winter. Great value for the price. The hood is great on this jacket as well. I would wear it year round because it's so cozy. I picked this jacket over the other women's Mountain Hardware Sub Zero coat with hood, this one had a better fitting hood that wasn't as restrictive.
most amazing, warmest jacket money can buy. mountain hardwear is SO beyond reliable. SO well made and SOOOO warm. i wear it to the grocery store, skiing and when ice scaling. this jacket is thee best no matter what. they have it for men, women and children, my entire family has one.
I bought this jacket for a mount washington climb and it is the warmest, most lightweight thing ever! I'm short but I got a larger size for layering and its rather long. Still, it fits well everywhere else and looks and feels great! You will instantly fall in love if you order this. It fits well, is extremely warm, and looks badass :-)
I can literally wear just a t shirt under this in the dead of winter in the northeast and be more than warm enough. I also have a long torso for a girl and usually have to get men's coats for them to be sufficiently long. This is the PERFECT length. GREAT COAT made it into the top 10 best xmas presents ever. Sorry for yelling, it's exciting though right?
Super nice jacket. I love the longer length. I'm 5'4" and 120 pounds and the small fits really well. Since I have pretty broad shoulders, I sometimes have a tough time finding jackets that aren't too tight, and this one is perfect. I could easily put another layer underneath. Sleeves aren't ridiculously long, either. The fire brick color is really nice, although I think it's a little more maroon than the picture shows.
I'm the kind of girl that is cold all the time--but not in this jacket, baby! Definitely the warmest and best jacket I've ever owned--lots of features to keep the cold out (velcro to tighten down the wrists, long back to cover part of your bum, warm hood that can be tightened). Great jacket!
