"Unreliable. Unsafe."

In 2010, I merrily headed off to walk the Laugavegur in Iceland with 14 of these to hold down my Nemo Tenshi. Over 5 days of walking, 10 of the 14 stakes had their heads pop off, often without any excessive pressure. The design is simply mechanically unsound; they may be heavier, but I've carried good solid one-piece Y-stakes or X-stakes (Groundhogs, preferably) since and never had a problem. I would not trust my shelter to these stakes again.

"Awesome Stakes"
11/15/11
I was first introduced to these stakes in the mid 90's, when I purchased a set for my North Face Tadpole. A couple of weeks ago I bought a new 'family' tent (Marmot Halo 6), and since I knew how much better these stakes are over the factory stakes, I went ahead and purchased a whole set. I took my new tent out for a test drive this past weekend and am definitely glad I got these, as most of the Marmot stakes I tried bent and none of these did. The 90’s version of the stakes included a string in the head that made pulling them out much easier. The new ones don’t, but have a hole to put your own string, which is definitely worth the time. All in all, a super awesome stake.

"Good b/c we were in a jam, but not a long term use product."

We bought these stakes out of desperation on a cold, rainy MSU game day. The tailgating tent is essential the perfect tailgate party...so when we discovered our stakes were missing immediately I thought of Moosejaw! Unfortunately, the stakes were a little disappointing. They went in fine and held the tent down. However when we were ready to take the tent down, we discovered that the end cap is not secured to the stake and it popped right off. Needless to say that made for a difficult to pull out stake.
