The Mountain Hardwear Trango 3.1 Tent has been the winter mountaineering standard in shelters for over a decade, constantly being refined and detailed over the years. The guaranteed waterproof construction of the Trango Tent includes a fully taped fly and perimeter seam with welded corners and guy clip anchors, and has been rain room tested for 24 hours with 1200 inches of rain. Using the Atlas Scandium XL poles combined with the four-pole design and Propriety Evolution Tension Arch, the Trango 3 person tent excels in even the toughest conditions. The reflective guy-out loops, starter point, and zipper pulls make for easy set-up at night. Mountain Hardwear uses Pitch Light configuration on this 3 person tent to allow the user to set up a super-light, warmer weather shelter using only the tent fly, poles, and footprint pieces without the Trango tent itself. Many high-quality features are added to the Trango tent series, including 2 dry entry vestibules, 2 dual canopy and mesh doors, SVX window for brighter interior and exterior visibility, welded guy clip anchors, watertight, reflective door zippers, and interior mesh storage pockets. The Mountain Hardwear Trango 3.1 Tent has been the top choice for winter camping, especially in harsh alpine climates, for over ten years, and is guaranteed to keep you safe and warm when you need complete protection from the elements.

"4 season awesomeness" 03/11/12
Bought this tent last November to use for winter camping. This thing is bomber. Yes, it is a little heavy, (about 12 lbs but feels heavier than that), but the added weight = 100% quality. Favorite features:1. Poles attach to the tent body via clips, not sleeves. Good for quick pitch.2. Huge vestibule, although the fly over it cannot be pitched as tight, hence a little flapping in high wind.3. Tons of storage pockets inside, we are talking about 8-10 huge mesh pockets.4. No condensation: we've only used it in a desert, but we sleep with everything shut, except a 5 inch section at the top vent. Inside the tent is bone dry with 3 people.5. Spacious, very adequate for 3, possible for 4.
"Get one!" 02/26/12
The Trango 3.1 is the first Mountain Hardwear tent that I have ever owned. I have to day I am very impressed. I drug the Trango up Aconcagua in South America in January 2012. While at the 19,000 ft camp, we were blasted with 70 mph winds for about 7 hours. The Trango laughed at mother nature! If you are looking for a hardcore high altitude tent the Trango 3.1 is it!
"Solid tent! Can handle a thrashing and will keep you dry and safe." 11/14/11
We've used this tent in 60 -70 mph winds on Aconcagua and Rainier and been very satisfied. It has kept us warm in snowy conditions and dry in horizontal rain! The vestibules are great for storing gear and cooking. The fly can be a little tricky due to all the clips on the under side - but you will be happy they are there when the wind starts howling! It's a bit heavy - but that's the price you pay for its durability and strength. (as with most 3-person tents, comfy for 2, cramped for 3)
"This tent is only for people who like to stay warm and dry" 03/30/10
The new 3.1, incorporating all of the best features of the old 3.1 arch, might just be the world's best 2-3 person expedition tent. Now even lighter, the 3.1 is cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. The inside tension shelf is sometimes described as a built in closet. Easily enough space to keep everything off the floor, but without affecting the structure or the water tightness. Certainly not the lightest three person tent in the world, just the best. Worry about something else, make sure your tent is good to go.
"If you are looking for a solid expedition tent for the big hills, look no further!" 01/17/10
I have used this tent in Antarctica, South America, and Alaska over the last 5 years, this tent is bomber. The 3.1 is the standard. If you don't mind hauling a bit of weight it is a roomy 2 person or a tight 3. I have seen it perform in 100 mph winds when other tents were crushed (literally), this one held on. The poles have held up to -40 without shattering and the poles clips are super strong. This is my Denali tent of choice!
