"For less than $150, it doesn't get much better."
I've never been able to spend much on backpacks because I tend to beat the crap out of them, and true to form I banged this one around, snagged it on branches, sat on and otherwise abused it for a week trek in thickly forested back country. It's fine, I'll definitely be able to use it on my next trip and all the straps, bells and whistles are still intact, which is more than I can say for some more expensive bags I've owned in the past. It's not the most comfortable or well-balanced pack in the world, but balance that with the price and durability and I think it's a winner. I was going to complain about the lack of different pockets and compartments, but the more I think it over, the elastic mesh on the sides worked fine, and even banging into things like an idiot I rarely had any gear fall out. Packed and secured properly, this is a very good pack for those who don't need to bring a ton of stuff.
"Awesome lightweight pack with room to overstuff"
I'm a classic over-packer. I wanted a lightweight pack that's still big enough to throw in the kitchen sink. I read the reviews of this pack on Moosejaw and other sites, and it sounded great. Moosejaw had the best price so I went with it and the order process/delivery was great. I used the backpack for 4 days (3 nights) hiking near Lake Superior (23 miles). 47lbs of gear stuffed into and hanging from this thing. The 2 things I put on the outside were a tripod hunting chair and my tent. Everything else fit inside (sleeping bag, pad, bag of clothes, bag of food and small day pack with essentials). The material is very durable and stretchy. I was able to put water bottles on the sides. If I had to describe this pack, it's like a giant stuff sack inside of a lightweight pouch. It's frame-less, but has a pad that gives support and can be used to sit on (I never used it for that). My only complaint would be a little more padding in the shoulder straps to support 47lbs of over-packing.
"Great pack I'd trust to carry and protect my gear thru anything I could make it thru"
After first extended trip with this pack I'm in love. Outter white flap or beaver tail ( everybody loves beaver tail on the trail) was perfect for storing wet clothes away from packload. Also the big gripe I heard on this pack was the lack of a hydration system.... the dual mesh pockets on the sides of the pack were perfect for storing a liter platypus up top on both sides and made it very easy to route the straw and also refill as I kept my water filter in one of the lower outer pockets as well as snacks negating the need for me to open my pack until time to set up camp which is the way I like it. Its made out of really burley stuff and short of bear attack I dont see it ripping. Also while u can stuff this thing and still have room left over it also packs down to an excellent light weight day or overnight pack without feeling or looking akward. Basically its versatile, indestructible, and really well thought out to make it as minimalistic as possible. Kudos MH
"Awesome light weight pack with great materials"
This pack is awesome!! Light weight but strong materials and burley stuff where you need it. The removable pad is great for a sit pad or extra sleeping pad. It's made VERY well. Only gripe, no hydration loop ( I sewed it in my self) or port. Overall, this is a great pack for it's weight.
