"Plays well with tent.. You need this - fit, compatibility." 07/28/10
I've taken the three routes - no footprint, cheap footprint, official goes-with-the-tent footprint. The third is the way to go. There is the issue of fit - you want the footprint to "click in" to the tent stakes with little margin of error. And the tent manufacturer (we hope) will use a fabric that has the right weight and, let's face it, looks.Bonus feature - if you are lucky, the footprint will fit in the tent stuffer with the tent. This happens with the Taurine 2, and it is not a slight advantage.
