Counting grams? Look no further, unless you go with a 1P tent or bivy. Although this is advertised as fitting two people, it'll be a tight squeeze. Because backpacking tents in the 2P variety really mean it's you and your pack that are fitting inside. It sets up pretty easily and quickly. The tent stakes that come with it must be cut out of a soda can, so you'll want to upgrade or use some others that you have lying around. Guying and staking it out is pretty straight-forward. The floor is a little thin. It'll hold up as long as you don't pitch on anything abrasive. The rainfly works well and kept me dry inside. The tent could breathe a little bit better but it doesn't get too stuffy inside. All in all, you're looking at this tent because of it's weight (or lack of). It gets the job done. Period. If you're willing to sacrifice a few more ounces your options open up tremendously, but I'm super stoked with adding this tent to my arsenal and look forward to many more nights inside.
"Easy Light can be better than Ultralight"
A little pricey, but a great, fairly light full featured double wall tent. My tent weighed 2lbs. 10 oz. with all the trimmings - bags, poles, stakes, cord. This tent is super easy to set up, and really free standing, the BA competition is almost freestanding, just not the rear, and there is a difference. I've spent 10 nights in it, but only one rainy night. I remained completely dry. I would like another inch of headroom. Fits me and my pack with room to spare. If it was a little wider/ taller at the foot it would fit two, but as it is I would not recommend it for two grownups.
"Seriously well thought out little tent.."
If you're reading this you probably really care about weight, so I weighed it for you. The trail weight was *exactly* what it claims to be. Nice work.My first impressions:* I first pitched this with no practice in a thunderstorm and it kept me dry. Good start.* Buy a footprint - UL is code for 'take extra care'.* 2 person actually means 2 hobbits, or 1 normal size adult (I'm 6ft). There's plenty room for me, but no chance you'll get me in there with a big guy.* Take care to get the cross pole the right way up on the first attempt, and you can pitch it in about 1 minute.* The vestibule doesn’t drip water into the tent when opened, unlike the nearest competition…
