"I have used the Mountain Hardwear Phantom 45 Sleeping Bag as my summer bag for a few seasons now and I dig it. Who wouldn't like an 800 fill, 1 lb sleeping bag? It really is perfect for moving fast in the midwest and similar climates. The lining material is comfortable next to skin and the shape of the bag is not to restrictive without being bulky. When you don't want to be tucked inside it, you can unzip it most of the way and turn it into a blanket, which is great, and then when you zip it back up the zippers don't snag so you're not wasting time fighting the material out of the zipper teeth. The Phantom packs down to the size of a shaving kit and keeps you warm when you need it. There's really not much more you could ask for from a warm weather sleeping bag."

"Yes, you can buy a bag that is a little better but you're going to pay a lot more for it."  05/16/12

There are a few bags by companies well known for their sleeping bags that I would say are a little bit better than this bag. However, the craftsmanship and quality of materials are nearly as good as those bags at a much lower price.I can nitpick at a few things. The zipper snags (I've never seen a sleeping bag where the zipper didn't snag. Some things you have to learn like sliding your finger along the material to keep it out of the zipper). Also it is a little snug. Claustraphobics need not apply. I'm 5'10" at 175lbs. It's a typical mummy bag to me. Snug but not tight means less air to heat up when getting in.

"Light Weight Summer Bag"  12/08/11

Zipper routinely snags and needs to be be carefully pulled both up and down. When this thing gets damp, it loses almost all of its insulating value and needs time to dry out. Bag is fairly expensive. But, that being said - it is very lightweight. When dry and used with a good sleeping pad, I did indeed feel comfortable at night with temperatures in the high 40s. I like that the interior is black, flipping it inside out and letting the sun hit it helps it dry more quickly.Weigh the pros and cons for your own planned use.

"Buy it, you wont find a better bag for price and performance period!"  11/03/11

So Mountain Hardware has started making great products again, seriously! Have used this bag 10 times now (have had it a month or so) and I approve. Spent a week in this at the beach with a basic shelter in october 60-39 degree temps at night and wind and a good bit of moisture and it performed flawless. Not as roomy as it looks, but its all you need.

"The Perfect Bag"  10/07/11

This bag is perfect. It weighs just over a pound and keeps you warm. I use this with my Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad and get the best night sleep I have ever had on the trail. It's comfortable and keeps me warm much lower than the 45 degree raiting. If you don't mind sleeping in warmer clothes, this things good at least to 30 degrees.

"Crazy good!"  04/25/11

You really have to feel this thing to believe it. It weighs less than a down parka! Recently took this down to the mid thirties with just a thin base layer and was plenty comfy. You'll notice that the EN ratings are actually a fair amount lower than the product name of 45 - that conservative thinking gives you a nice buffer for spring/fall trips There's no collar like on its big brother, but thats ok. At least the zippy isn't as snaggy as on the 15.

"Mountain Hardwear is the Best!"  10/01/10

I purchased this sleeping bag as a lightweight mild-weather backpacking sleeping bag. I have tried this bag with night time temperatures dipping into the lower 40's and have been more than warm enough even in shorts!. Using a good sleeping pad at such temperatures is highly recommended! I cannot believe how lightweight this bag is(perfect for backpacking) at only 17 oz. it is 4-5 oz lighter than most other sleeping bags in the same temperature range. The construction seems quality, and everything I have come to expect from Mountain Hardwear. I would definitely highly recommend this sleeping bag to anyone looking for a lightweight warm weather sleeping bag.

"Wowzers!"  07/28/10

You can read the specs all you want, but until you feel it for yourself, you really can’t comprehend just how light 19oz is over the length of a sleeping bag. This bag is much warmer than its 45° name leads you to believe. I only tested it in mid 50’s, but I was crazy hot with the bag zipped. The stuff sack is ridiculously small, yet the bag is easy to compress. If you’re looking for the lightest, most compact, super warm, and overall kick-ass bag, then look no further. P.S. I’m 6’ 190 and the long fits great.
