Now this is what I call a hiking kilt. The previous model did not have pleats like a real kilt, so it made me look like I was actually wearing a woman's skirt. This version looks more authentic. The great thing about this is that it looks like a kilt, but does not require as much care and maintenance. Because of that, it's still a bit light in fabric, so do be careful when it's a bit windy, as I found out walking around in San Franciso and over windy grates like Marilyn Monroe. Love this for hiking and running!

If you're not wearing one, you don't know what you are missing. Comfortable, and "breezy" this kilt is better than I expected. I purchased a Mountian Hardwear kilt several years ago (love it too) and was leery about the cargo pockets and pleats, but have been very pleased with the material (heavier than the original) and the unique styling. The size chart is bang on with these -- almost bought a medium, but based on another review decided to go with what the chart said (small) and it fits very well. My only disappointment was that when I logged in tonight to buy another one, Moose Jaw was out of my size.

I love it! It is light weight, stylish, and looks like a kilt (at least from the back). I'm thinking of getting another one when this is in the wash. I have a bit of a belly, and wear 38 jeans. i buy a 40 when i buy a "traditional" kilt. I got the X-large and it fits well. Improvements I would like to see would be moving the pockets a little farther forward so larger items in the pockets wouldn't be sat upon. A little heftier snaps would be nice, but if i lost 10 pounds maybe that wouldn't be an issue. All in all, a great comfortable kilt for hiking or everyday wear. AND . . .Moosejaw delivers. I had no problem at all.
This product is very comfortable, although it took me a while to "get comfortable" with wearing it. I'm 5'11", 175lbs. and normally wear a 34 waist in pants. I at first ordered a large which fit me well through the thighs and butt, but it was several inches too large in the waist. I exchanged it for a medium which fits me well in the waist, though it could use a little more room in the lower part of the kilt. Overall, I love it.
