"Great low profile down jacket.. Perfect for layering"
I have the black version of this jacket. It's very low profile and very compactable. The jacket packs into one of the pockets and it actually fits well in the stowable pocket. With a lot of these jackets I've had (especially being size Small), the jackets barely fit into their stow pockets and you have to worry about the zipper tearing or messing up the jacket. Not so with this jacket.I do wish it was just a little bit warmer so it could be worn by itself when temps get really low. I used to own an older version of Mountain Hardwear's Compressor jacket and that one was warm enough on it's own with a T-shirt even in below freezing weather. I use this one as a layering piece under a waterproof shell jacket when it gets really cold and it has worked great because it's so thin. The side and part of the arm is made of a stretchy mesh material rather than insulation all around. It makes the jacket more comfortable but at the expense of letting more cold air in.
