"Great softshell pant" 03/26/12
Just the right amount a stretch to make these super comfortable. Cut the wind just enough to keep you warm when it's cool out and shed light rain and snow. I would like a beefier button snap but nothing is perfect. For the price they're top notch.
"Why spend more money, these pants do it all!" 01/13/12
For a hundred bucks theses soft shells do it all! I went ice climbing a forty degree day in a waterfall and they shed water like hard shells. Have yet to put a crampon through the legs but not without my best efforts. They are also supper stretchy, they feel like im wearing sweatpants. The legs even stretched enough to fit over a MASSIVE pair of ski boot with no problems. Im 6' 1" 180 pounds and have an inseam of 34, i go the medium longs and they are actually just too long for hiking and climbing. if i were to change anything i would make the legs more athletic trim, but for the price who's complaining!
"All around great hiking/walking/snow sport pants" 12/23/11
These "soft shells" are great. Good wind and moisture protection. Good weight for aerobic activities. Material holds up to encounters with brush and thickets. Pick the right base layer and these are good for all winter activities. Without a base layer they are good for most spring and fall outings. These are nice looking pants. The fact that they come in different lengths is a great plus.
"Great Warmth" 12/04/11
I wore these during a chilly November weekend in the Smokies and felt super comfortable. The temps ranged from the mid 20s to the low 50s. They have a great fit since they stretch a bit. I only wish the hip pocket had a zip instead of a single snap. When I'd sit on the ground, I'd often lose my lip balm. I'm 5'7" and 140lbs and size small regular fit great. I tried the medium short, but they were way too baggy. A bit pricey, but I'd say they're worth it.
"Wish they came smaller" 12/05/10
I actually love the feel and function of these pants. Nice and durable and warm for the cold season. The problem is that I'm 5'6" with a 28" waist. The smallest size is 30" waist. That normally does not cause me any problems because I can wear a belt. The problem is that the length from the crotch to the top of the pants is a bit longer than I like. It made me look look like I was trying to push my pants up past my belly-button. In addition, after a while, because the pants are a bit heavy-duty, it kept slowly getting pulled down despite the belt and I had to constantly re-adjust.
"My Winter Pants" 11/29/10
Theses pants are my go-to fall/winter hiking pants. They are virtually bombproof from the half-dozen experiences I have had in them. They dry amazingly fast *if* they get wet. The fabric is a little stretchy too so the mobility in them is great!
