"Will keep you toasty even when the dogs and cats are living together." 11/14/11
Really dig this jacket, warm and durable, really like the reinforced elbows. I have stayed toasty warm at 50 below (mind you its is a dry cold)wearing a base layer and a midlayer. Only complaint is you can feel the cold seep in a little bit at the zipper, doen't make you hypohtermic, just noticable (it was 50 below at the time if that tells you anything).
"very warm and packable" 09/03/11
I purchased this jacket to replace my worn out northface and I couldn't be happier. This jacket is very warm. My only complaint is that the sizing runs larger than normal. I ordered a large and it is very large. I am 5'10 170 and it fits me very loose. Other than that I love this jacket. I carry it my pack on cold weather trips and thanks to its storage bag it makes a handy pillow when your not wearing it.
"Big bang for the buck." 03/10/11
This jacket is bomb proof. Very warm, very light weight. Takes a beating and holds up to just about every condition you'll be out in. When not in use I keep it in my truck for emergency use. If stranded in the cold this is the one jacket I would want with me.
"COMFORTABLE & TOASTY !" 02/23/11
I couldn't wait to get this jacket out of the package today and give it a whirl. Decided to give it a test run while engaging in some nature photography, here, in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. :) It is a perfect fit, true to size, and is lightweight and non-binding. Fit extremely well over my base layers not to mention a wonderful windstopper against the winds howling off of Lake Superior. The many pockets are a wonderful asset for stashing extras.
"Warm but poofy and not too light" 02/21/11
First let me say that the handwarming pockets are amazing. I sometimes put my hands in them even when not wearing the jacket. As far as the rest of the jacket goes it's definitely warm but I feel like the Michelin Tire Man. It also only packs down to something the size of rugby ball. I would like the waist to be a little lower as well. The outer material is durable compared to that of some other down jackets. I think my next down jacket is going to be a lighter weight and trimmer 800/850 fill, but the warmth to price ratio of this jacket is hard to beat (especially on sale), and I was definitely pleased that I purchased it.
"Perfect for wintering" 01/25/11
Outstanding value for the less sophisticated (i.e., those of us that don't need to look like everyone else in look alike North Face jackets). VERY comfortable, warm, cozy. Even fits in your back pocket (well almost).
"Like wearing a flock of geese" 01/13/11
Great jacket- Lightweight, warm, compressible. For the money this is a great jacket. With a good base-layer and a fleece this jacket will keep you warm in your typical northern winter. I am not sure that I would go mountaineering in this jacket, but the fact that it is comparatively inexpensive, and compresses into the size of a moderately large Nerf football means this is a great addition to any jacket arsenal.
"This is what it is." 12/07/10
This is a great down jacket. Nothing more, nothing less. So far, i haven't been cold in this thing. I even used it in a bivy last winter in Colorado, and though I may have been far from warm, I certainly wasn't cold in this thing. The sub-zero delivers. If I were to buy a down jacket again, I would however look for something with 800+ or 850+ fill down and I'd defiantly get a hood. But overall, the Subzero is an excelent jacket that continues to keep me toasty on even the coldest days.
"Stop thinking about it and buy one" 11/30/10
This is a great jacket for anyone who likes performance and style - I guess that means everyone! I was so excited the first day that it was cold enough to wear it and it kept me toasty warm. I like the addition of the Napolean style chest pocket where I can keep my wallet so the side pockets are free for my hands. Nice fleece lining in the pockets, too. The noticeable emblems and fitted style give it an aggressive, masculine look - in my opinion much more impressive than the North Face sorority uniform that everyone is wearing these days.
