"Great pants for skiing or snowboarding." 05/26/13
I've put a full ski season on these pants and they've been great. The warmth is somewhere in the middle for an insulated pant: they're not ultralight and they're not belay-pants warm. While they're definitely breathable, they're not as breathable as a Pro-Shell or eVent if you really start to sweat. Overall, they've been great for the "average" New England ski day. If it's in the digits or below, you'll still feel it a bit in these. The outer fabric is quite durable. Mine have been through several bushwhack-y tree runs without a scratch. The built-in gaiters form a nice seal around your boots and stay in place well. I'm 6'2" / 170 and the medium tall/long are the perfect size. The legs are little baggier than they look in the photo.
"Mt. Washington Capable" 05/19/12
I climbed Mt. Washington on January 2nd with these pants and a insulating baselayer. They did excellent. It was -20 FH ambient, and -60 with the windchill. 75mph windgust, I didn't feel a thing! They are well manufactured and feel extremely sturdy. They are not ment for people trying to cut back on weight or skimp on warmth, they are warm! If you get too warm just unzip the vents. The built in gaitors work great and I ended up not using the gaitors I brought along. Not too many pockets, but I have no complaint with that.
