DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Travel and Activity Pant I recently purchased these pants for a trip to the French Alps. I was particularly excited to see that they featured a zip lower-hip pocket. It was my intention to use this pocket to secure my passport. I wasn't disappointed. The pocket was the perfect size for a passport and was deep enough to also comfortably hold a cell phone or wallet was well. The pants are athlectically cut and do have a slightly raised under-cut so if you're taller, I'd recommend sizing up one. The pants do have a stretch to them which makes activity motion free and easy. They are warm and they launder especially well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best pants for inclement weather & hiking These are my favorite winter pants, as they are light and breathe well, yet keep you very warm, the breezes stay out, and they just don't get wet in the snow or rain, keeping you all the warmer. They also flex really well in the knee, the gusseted crotch and the waist. The pockets are well placed, just deep enough, and the side zip pocket comes in really handy. They also have a fabric that resists burrs, thorns, and prickly plants, which is great on the trail! They wash and dry very easy and carefree, as well, on a regular wash and a typical dryer cycle. They're quite expensive for me, but anytime I see them on sale I snap them up, although I do feel they're well worth their normal price as they are really well designed and can last a lifetime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and Versatile I bought these for my husband two years ago. The stretch in the material and soft lining makes them ideal for recreating and they are especially nice for long road trips. He wears them about once a week and they have held up great.
