Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome material and comfort, but watch the sizing! I ordered this coat to act as a midlayer to go underneath my gore-tex shell. I usually fit in a medium fairely well, however the sizing on this coat is not a normal fit for me. I'm 5'10", 180lbs, not too broad of shoulders and neck, but not skinny either. The coat was very tight fitting in the shoulder and neck region to where it was difficult for me to zip all the way up. The stomach area was fine in width, but really short in length. I have never had a problem with this in the past, and quickly tried on my other coats to make sure it wasn't me and in fact the jacket. I ordered a medium, but definitely need a large so I sent it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warning, will become part of your persona I promised myself that I wouldn't buy this until I saw it on sale, because that is the only way I could risk adding this much pizazz to my wardrobe. There was a 50% chance that this would never leave my closet. Now, it's my choice for staying super warm no matter if I'm putting the garbage out in my slippers or tying into a multi-pitch climb. I have super long arms, and this lives up to its name and my simian proportions. People have actually called me monkey man since I started wearing this jacket. It's very soft to the touch, but not so great in the rain. A simple shell will fix that though. This is mainstay on my coat rack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This jacket is crazy warm and has good stretch! I love the arm length and collar The jacket is great. I have this and the Retro-X from Patagonia and think that this is so much warmer and easier to wear. I am in between sizes on the Retro and still like it but it doesn't have nearly the stretch that the Monkeyman does! I love the stretch in the jacket and especially the sleeves. I would put it on in the morning or night just over short sleeves and almost be too warm. I highly recommend this jacket. I typically fall between a medium and large on most fleeces and have to go with large for the sleeve length. These sleeves are plenty long, and will accommodate layers underneath when it gets stupid cold outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love it When I Can Wear It Why can't I wear it? I can't wear it because every time I take it off, any woman nearby instantly puts it on, and I have to track it down the next day. This baby makes kittens and puppies feel coarse by comparison. If you want a coat that is warmer than you thought a coat this light is possible and more attractive to women than you ever thought a coat was possible, then look no further. My cypress color has earned me the title of "grinch skinner" among certain social groups for better or worse, but the coat itself is amazingly soft and warm. Bottom line, if you like women touching you, or you just like battling them to get your coat back, then buy one

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good casual jacket At first I loved this jacket. The monkey fur felt great, it was moderately warm and it had a unique look (got lots of complements). I've owned mine for a year now and I've taken it on several multi-day camping/hiking trips. The fur has been flattened where my backpack straps are. A small part got melted too close to a camp fire. And in cold weather it's not warm enough to be an insulation layer. I'm going back to natural materials -- wool and down for my cold weather needs. Wool baselayers and down insulation seem the way to go.,,,,Maintenance tip: it's ok to machine wash but don't put it in the dryer. Let it air dry and you'll maintain the furriness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fleece doesn't get any cooler than the Monkey Man! Had this for years! In fact, I bought a SECOND one just because it was on sale! This thing is super warm. I've worn in in Tahoe time and time again. The high pile fleece insulates better than my Patagonia R series. The best part of the Monkey Man is its weight--super light. So it fits great as a mid-layer underneath a weatherproof softshell or hardshell when you need protection from the elements. But it also stands on its own as an outerlayer if its not wet or too windy out. It has a streamlined fit and stretchy cuffs to slide under other coats easily.,,,,Out of all my cold weather jackets, this has always given the biggest bang for the buck!,,

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good jacket, but shows wear and the fit has changed The warmth to weight ratio is a winner and it's a great on the trail or the sidewalk. The material is unique. It's as soft and warm as any light jacket you'll ever wear. 2 issues: 1 - you have to maintain the jacket to keep it looking nice. Wash and brush it (yes, brush it) regularly. 2 - This is my 3rd Monkey Man and the arms are now significantly longer than they were before. This time the arms are probably 2 inches longer than the other two same-sized Monkey Mans of the past. So if this is a replacement, prepare for a different fit in the arms. Perhaps good for some - for me it was not as the material already has a tendency to bulk up around my wrists.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sell Grandma to get it This is the softest fleece I've ever owned. Wearing it makes cuddling up to rusty nails and broken glass comfortable. It's warm too, so if those nails and glass have been sitting in the fridge, you still won't mind.,,,,Seriously, I doubt this is actual polyester fleece. I'm sure that somewhere in an alternate dimension filled with happy feelings and rose-smelling unicorn poop, there's a hairless magical baby seal wondering where his fur went. ,,,,"I didn't drink THAT much last night," He'll think. "WTF? Y'know, I bet Gary took it. I always hated Gary.",,,,So, yes, sell Nana to the circus and buy this. She won't blame you. She has a thing for the trapeze anyway.
