"King of The Apes" 04/30/12
I bought this jacket recently and I absolutely love it! One of the most comfortable pieces of clothing that I've even worn. The super soft fleece feels great on the skin, everybody loves running their hands over the fur. The jacket fit me very well which is surprising because most outwear always comes up short in the sleeves. (I'm 6'5" 190lbs) A perfect layer / light jacket to add to the collection. Two opposable thumbs up for the monkey man!

Ever been out bouldering in 0 degrees C and had to shiver and shake your way up a route because wearing your down jacket leaves you with worse range of motion than Arnold Schwarzenegger? This is the fleece you want! it's got enough stretch for you to bend your limbs anyway you wish, and enough insulation to keep you from fatiguing due to the low temperatures. The same applies to hiking/ biking/ backpacking. This is a fleece for the movement oriented.

I have lived out of this jacket for the past winter. I bought it for layering while skiing, winter hiking, or generally being out in the cold. I think I can count the number of times I've taken it off since I bought it on one hand though. I wear it almost everyday to class, when lounging around my place, or under a shell anytime I'm out in the cold. Super soft, well fitted for the long lanky type, pockets that are big enough for whatever you need to stash, and it's durable. Just throw it in the washing machine every few months and it looks good as new once tumble dried. Basically a miracle in jacket form.

This fleece is some sort of alien technology. The second I put it on I feel 10 degrees warmer. I have had synthetic insulated jackets in the past like the MH Compressor or OR Neoplume and I must say that this performs comparably. My only qualm with this is that it is sort of heavy. My XL weighs in at roughly 23 ounces. It doesn't compress as well as synthetic fill jackets, however it is much more forgiving in regard to snags or wayward embers. It dries quickly, and has 2 side hand pockets that are tall enough (the pocket goes from the waistband to the upper chest area) to hold a Nalgene Silo (48 oz.) Highly recommended.
"Nice but" 01/06/12
Super warm and cozy but sleeves are pretty lengthy at 4 inches beyond my finger tip with arms straight down. No, I'm not a T-rex. Forearms bunched way too much when at wrist. Oddly, I tried on several larges in different colors and found one particular grey with the sleeves at a perfect length. Would have liked the dark brown color but the looooong sleeves bothered me. Otherwise, a sweet fleece.

I bought my dad this for Christmas and all he has done is go on and on about how good it is. He absolutely loves it and says its super warm. They grey looks amazing too. it will never look dirty or even show dirt. overall Im kinda jealous I dont have one because they are sweet

I am 5'9" and 150lbs (38R) with long (34in sleeve) arms and the medium sized jacket fits very well. I still have room for a little bit bigger chest and pumped up biceps but it still looks fitted and athletic. Super warm under a wind-stopping outer layer. I ordered the "sapphire" color which looks much more purple in the picture. The actual color (to my eyeballs, at least) is more of a navy blue. A nice color nonetheless. Random people also like to pet the Monkey Phur fabric. I can't wait until the Monkey Man underwear comes out.

The jacket is great. I have this and the Retro-X from Patagonia and think that this is so much warmer and easier to wear. I am in between sizes on the Retro and still like it but it doesn't have nearly the stretch that the Monkeyman does! I love the stretch in the jacket and especially the sleeves. I would put it on in the morning or night just over short sleeves and almost be too warm. I highly recommend this jacket. I typically fall between a medium and large on most fleeces and have to go with large for the sleeve length. These sleeves are plenty long, and will accommodate layers underneath when it gets stupid cold outside.

Mountain Hardware never disappoints EVER!!! Bought this for my hubby as a surprise and he is thrilled how manly yet soft this totally cool jacket is...and HOT all at the same time!!! Guess you will just have to purchase one to get the full effect. No wonder this is a Staff Pick. I suggest sizing up for a little extra layering room...otherwise Perfection!!!
"Great jacket, chicks dig it." 11/30/11
This standard fit coat will definitely keep you warm in the fall and spring, and will work great as a midlayer during colder months. My only complaint is that the sleeves are sort of long. Apparently the "monkey" part of the title applies to this jacket's ape-fit sleeves. But the fabric... ohhh man... Every lady in town wants to feel it. Highly recommended.
