DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely durable and comfortable This is my second pair. I was recently hiking/climbing up some steep terrain in my first pair. On the descent the rock I had a hand hold on broke and I tumbled down the hill. I had a several scrapes and bruises and a deep gash on my knee cap. Amazingly the pants did not tear at all despite taking a direct hit to the knee, but were covered in blood. I finally made it back off the hill and drove home. I washed the pants when I got home and all of the blood came out, so they are still a perfect pair of pants. I recommend everyone buys two pair of them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional, athletic fit, go everywhere pants This is my first pair of Mountain Hardwear pants of many, many, to come. I have a tall, athletic body type so finding pants that fit me are generally hard to find due to the inseam. These pants were long enough, and fit my lower body like a glove. Not too loose, not too tight, perfect fit. I've been wearing them in 20-30 degree weather so far and they are just fine. I initially though these would only be good for spring or better weather as they don't have any insulation properties and are super thin, but I haven't felt the difference between these and jeans in this weather. I've washed once and no shrinkage. My favorite thing about these pants are the super soft and super thin waist line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spring, Fall favorite At about 11 ounces and seemingly sturdy design and materials, these convertible pants seem well-made for lightweight backpacking. My only small criticism is that the pockets should be slightly deeper. They are a bit on the shallow side for comfort that nothing will be inadvertently dropped out.,,,,I own and use two of them but mostly as long pants. Separating the lower part can be difficult with boots on but without it easy. Dries fast, excellent with MH belts.,,,,Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits well; nice and light, but did great in cooler weather These pants surprised me when I first opened the package. They seemed light and I was worried that they were too much of a summer pant to be able to withstand the trip I had planned for that weekend (climbing Mt Mitchell with weather 40 degree highs, with rain). But I rolled the dice, and boy was I surprised--they kept me plenty warm. ,,,,They fit well, the 32x32 was true to size (5'11", 185lb). I would recommend wearing a belt with them.,,,,Very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are comfortable, fit great, look great, and strong These mountain hardware pants are a nice surprise. At first I thought the material was going to be too thin and I was going to get cold as full pants but they work great and the material is still quite strong. The shorts don't get too hot either. Nice and comfy and they look good too! My only complaint is that the bottoms do not have a side zipper so I have to take my shoes off in order to convert hem to shorts, but for me that is a pretty minor detail. Great pants love this company and I will DEFIANTLY be buying more of their products!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great 3-Season Pants I really like these pants as they make great all purpose pants for 3-season use. The material is very thin and light, making them extremely breathable, while maintaining temperature well so you don't feel too cold while wearing them. I've worn these in temps down to 20 degrees with a baselayer underneath and still felt very comfortable. Sizing is pretty accurate. I'm 6' 3" and normally wear a 32/34 or 33/34. I got these in 32/34 and the waist was just perfect, not too tight or loose. The length was just right as well, going all the way down to my feet without shoes on. They are slightly on the baggy side in the calf area which I'm not too big a fan of, but at least it makes wearing tall boots easy. Also, the zips on the legs bothered me a bit at first since I wasn't used to wearing convertible pants, but after a couple wears I eventually got used to them.
