This jacket is fantastic. I find Dry.Q Elite to be significantly more breathable than GoreTex (I sweat a LOT). Also very durable, adjustable and waterproof/windproof. My issue is with Mountain Hardwear as a company. While I have several products from them that I love, their service is horrible. I found this out when the zipper on my Maximalist started falling apart. I contacted MH about the issue near the beginning of Dec. and received an email saying something along the lines of 'we'll see if we can get someone to repair it after the holidays'. I've contacted them several time since and have received no response. It's prime ski season in the Kootenays, and I've been without a shell for over 6 weeks now. For a jacket this expensive, this customer service is absolute BULLSHIT.
"Dry Q Elite beats Gore-Tex Pro Shell 3L on durability, waterproofness & breathability!"
Love this jacket! Wasn't sure what to expect, despite reading the technical specs before buying. After 5 Sierra Nevada ski days in varying conditions from 12 degrees, overcast, and blowing to sunny and 39 degrees, I am sold! The Dry Q Elite specs are out of his world at 40,000mm waterproofness and 40,000g/m2 breathability! Love my Gore-Tex Pro Shell 3L, but its NOT 40K / 40K. I was dry, windproof, and never hot as the jacket truely begins breathing right when you put it on, as advertised; no body heat pressure needed to get the air moving through the permeable membrane.
