"Best Jacket Ever, without question"
          11/18/09
I have been wearing this jacket 6 months a year since 2005. I have tried several other jackets and nothing comes close to my Alchemy. The usable range of temperatures for this jacket is unbelievable. I have been totally comfortable in the jacket on a breezy 55F degree day all the way down to snowboarding at 20F with a sweeter underneath. I have worn it backpacking at 11,000 feet in Colorado, walking to work in Chicago winters, cold weather mountain biking, Hiking through Germany in the late fall and countless football games. The fit of this jacket is athletic and perfect. It is completely windproof and stands up to rain very well, this is also a very durable jacket and worth every penny.

"Solid performance in a warm, active jacket"
          11/09/09
After 3 years it's running great. Though a few threads have torn, I won't send it in because I use it constantly and don't want to give it up. The cuff's are tight, the fit great and it's completely windproof. Not waterproof, but resistant for the first year or so. I've had to recoat it about 3 times in the past 2 years and it's still not as good as new. It's very hot if you move a lot because of the thick, neoprene-like shell but this is perfect when I'm active. Neck cinch is a great addition as well as the inside pocket. wish it had under-arm vents though. Waist is short and size is a bit small overall, but you should wear it tight anyway.

"Must have jacket!"
          10/19/09
Very comfortable, thin but warm, it doesn't let the wind in and it's water resistant. It seems to run a little small, but the jacket is a big must!

"Versatile Softshell"
          09/12/09
I'm 6' 175lbs. with long arms. The Large fits perfectly with room for a base layer and fleece. The cuffs are tight to keep out the wind. The jacket is cut short and athletic. The Large is down to my hip bones and, thanks to the extra material in the arms, the jacket barely moves when I raise my arms. This is a warm jacket on its own - but of course it is meant to be used in conjunction with layers. The inner lining is soft and very comfortable. I would estimate this jacket to be comfortable down into the 30*F range with some light layering. Windproof. It does not include a hood - that's why hats were invented. The torso pockets are huge and work as vents.

"Unbelievably durable"
          07/07/09
I have an old Alchemy, from 2000 or so. And you know what? Despite years of use, it looks like new. I have had to use Nikwax soft shell wash on it a few times, and scour off some structural foam at one point, but it still repels water, still holds off the wind, and still looks star-trek cool. What else can be said of it? The nylon soft shells are better.

"The perfect jacket for almost every application, I practically live in this thing!"
          03/29/09
I have hardly taken this jacket off since I got it. I wear it on campus, when I go climbing, cycling in the rain, and under my parka while mountain climbing. According to his website, this jacket is one of Ed Viesturs' favorites and I understand why. The jacket has a close fitting, athletic fit, a nice and warm inner-lining, water resistant outer layer and great wind resistance. Plus it looks great with everything (my wife even let me wear it to a formal event)!

"This thing is Irreplaceable! Love it!"
          02/21/09
Lightweight. Blocks the wind. Surprisingly warm. This jacket has a great fit. I've tried The North Face Apex Bionic, but this one fits much better. Sometimes I even forget I have a jacket on. If you don't want to have to worry about your jacket keeping up with you on all your adventures...This is the one to get. Mad props to Mountain Hardware on this one!!! I just hope they don't discontinue it before it's time for a new one! If you want performance BUY IT!!

"Great sporty softshell"
          02/19/09
This guy is not super warm (good for 40s-60) but it is stylish, has nice pockets, and a good layer under a hardshell. The waterproofing wears off after a few months and I've tried re-treating with nikwax with moderate success. With these critics I still must say I wear this more than any other article of clothing and really do love it. It is very durable as well.

"The softshell that i treat like a hardshell"
          02/17/09
Theres no better all around jacket than this one. Ive worn it in San Diego, Korea, all over Japan, and Guam. I wear this jacket as my top layer when skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing, dating, and drinking binges when the date falls apart. No joke. Ive never felt the wind when wearing it but the cold will get through since there is little lining after the shell. Thats why i didnt give it the perfect grade.

"My new standard..."
          11/07/08
I love this jacket. It's warm, fits like nothing I've ever worn before, and makes me look like I should be driving a Saab over to some ski slopes in Austria (Or a Vespa (although the half-stache I've got coming in for Movember helps the look)). Also a great color (I got blue), and solid as a rock. Only issue may be size. They design for people that look how they want to look, or there about, so if you like beer a lot, you've got a decision to make. That's a personal issue though, and has nothing to do with the jacket... I went medium, but I know I can find my better shape soon.

"best wind stopper out there"
          10/22/08
This jacket is great. far exceeds what i was expecting. i commute via road bike year around and this jacket is proving that the cool 30s are comfortable in the am with a long sleeve shirt. The added waterproofing is phenomenal. I have been caught riding home from work a couple times in the rain and i stay perfectly dry. The durability is top notch, with no signs of backpack straps rubbing. a great jacket for my climbing trips and hiking. If you are faced with the fierce wind, rain or cold outdoors this light water proof wind shell is the one to spend the money one and worth every penny. cons: i have not found anything that i can call negative about this jacket

"Love it! Get one!"
          09/25/08
Picked mine up last winter and threw it in the closet because I just couldn't put down the monkey man jacket. Now that I am over here in Europe and had to pick a more versatile jacket I pulled this guy along. Best decision of my life. I thought Italy was a warm country. It's actually pretty darn cold right now a little north of Rome and in Bavaria, dear lord Munich is one nippy city. I am about 5'10" and got a large. Fits me just right. Great arm length and doesn't restrict movement at all in the shoulders. Torso fits nice. This thing is going to be perfect when I'm up in the Alps. Just need to find a solid pair of pants to roll with.
