The Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 is one of our top-selling 3 person tents. Mountain Hardwear updated this freestanding, 3 person tent with a fully removable zip out panel to allow an extra 4 ounces to be shaved off when weight matters. The Hammerhead 3 is designed with ease of use in mind, which makes it great for car camping and recreational camping. It’s three Atlas 7001 lightweight poles make set-up a breeze, there are two canopy doors (so you don’t have to climb over your tent mate to get in and out), there are adjustable vents on both sides in case you want a little breeze and this Mountain Hardwear tent is quite roomy with a peak height of 55” and floor space of 64.5”x90”. The really cool thing about the Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 is the large mesh panel that not only adds tons of ventilation, but also doubles as a star gazing viewing area. Now you can finally put what you learned in that Astronomy class to work.

"Love the zip out panel!"  03/20/11

Great tent that is very roomy. The vestibules could be bigger but that's just being picky. The vented fly keeps condensation down and the zip out panel is the bomb. You can open just the top if you need privacy (and sometimes you do!) or zip out the whole top and one side to leave just the mesh to completely vent the tent. Seems cavernous compared to my old 2 tent.

"Very roomy"  03/14/11

This is a very well made tent, my wife and I have used it a few time backpacking in the high uintas, I think that it would hold 3 people fine, but you would not have much room for anything else. It fit me my wife our packs, and my german shepherd puppy fine. It is a little on the heavy side but if you are going with a few people you can spread out the weight. If you like room it's worth it.
