A burly, well-designed, bombshelter of a technical shell.Uses: Skiing (storm days riding lifts, and backcountry touring), mountaineering, backpacking.,,Pros: ,,- Second generation GoreTex Pro fabric a HUGE improvement the old Goretex ProShell material. Coat is totally waterproof and breathes remarkably well for a heavy-duty shell.,,- The cut is super functional. Roomy enough for layers underneath, long in the back, lots of room across the shoulders and arms. ,,- Pockets—lots of them, in places you can reach while wearing a pack, and harness! Big enough for skins, snacks, glasses, gloves, etc.,,- The hood fits over my ski helmet; the collar zips up high to protect my face. Brim is awesome at shedding rain. ,,- Lots of useful features: detachable powder skirt, storm flap and housing over the main zipper, pit zips, etc.,,,,Cons:,,- At a 19 oz, this coat isn’t exactly light. ,,- Lefty (UK) zipper took some getting used to—also the zipper pull just failed after 2 years.,,- The hood could be even bigger to improve neck maneuverability when worn over helmets
