Excellent cold weather adventure jacketI own the 2013 version of the Mountain Equipment Men's Vega Jacket and have used it on several cold-weather backpacking adventures both in the Eastern US (Ohio) and twice at high altitudes in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado (12,000ft +). My jacket is a size XL and has a very athletic cut which will limit how much you can layer underneath it (I’m 46in chest / 36in waist). Although cut slim, the shoulders and arms are articulated enough to allow freedom of movement. The jacket is extremely warm (used it to -5F) and highly windproof (constant 30mph winds), which is highly valued when you are exposed in a cold environment. The jacket is a bit too warm and bulky for my everyday use, so I save it for cold weather outdoor adventures. The jacket can be reasonably compactable when using the supplied compression sack. Overall, I think Mountain Equipment makes a solid product and I would recommend it to others with similar cold weather adventure needs.
