The Moosejaw Men's Scruffy Casella Softshell is a jacket designed for the new winter, or lack of one, and an updated version of our best-selling jacket from last year. The Scruff Casella is made with a brand new 4-way stretch softshell fabric for awesome comfort and freedom of movement, and features welded pockets, and fully adjustable hood and cuffs to keep the crappy weather and elements out. We built this softshell jacket to be nice and warm in cooler temps, and it is also great to layer with the Moosejaw Jason Mowery Quarter Zip Fleece. So smart. If you're into listening, there is a headphone port in the chest pocket for running your headphone cord through. The last song I listened to on my phone was Hot Hot Hot!!! by the Cure while in Central Park. I am ten times cooler than you. As an intern at Moosejaw you’re expected to preform variety of tasks. Such as buying bow ties in bulk, organizing tee samples by smell, stuffing pickles into jackets and recording the daily usage of the word “leverage”. At first I thought some of this wasn’t for real but then we had an emergency meeting when the monthly bowtie quota wasn’t met. They’ll probably never hire me now. Send margo@moosejaw.com your best bow tie pic and we'll give you 234 points.

3 pockets in all: 1 chest, 2 hand
Chest pocket has internal portal for routing your media cords
Mesh lined pockets
Reflective Moosejaw logo on front pocket and back right shoulder
Hood adjusts from the side and the rear to help keep weather and elements out
Fusing on brim to hold shape and keep the rain out
Velcro cuff adjustments secure wrists to your liking
Internal fleece is channeled to breathe and provide warmth without bulk
An awesome companion piece with the Moosejaw Jason Mowery Quarter Zip Fleece
Light enough to be worn by itself on brisk days and layers great as the temperature drops. Shell does very well at repelling wind and water but still has enough give to allow complete range of motion for pretty much any activity. Adjustable hood and waist also very nice. Only downside: velcro on the wrists sticks to the inside of the pockets, making it a little annoying to keep your hands in them. Regardless, still the most versatile and comfortable pieces of outerwear I've ever owned.

Money well spent! Well worth double the price! I was interested in purchasing something equivalent made by Arc, Pat, or NF and was told to check out this product by a MJ employee. I wasn't sold right away by the jacket but after trying it on and making some faux climbing moves i noticed zero restriction in my shoulders and or armpits (main problem area for me). I am just under 6 foot with a 6'2" ape index. Bought the large with no problems in the arm length or shoulder width. This jacket is a rain jacket, wind breaker, mid layer under a waterproof shell, you name it. I walked in a sleet storm for an hour in December at the Red and was 100% dry after! LOVE THIS JACKET!! MUST BUY!
This jacket is EXACTLY what i was looking for. Totally comfy and cannot wait to take this out on slopes. I did in fact run outside and roll around in the snow with it and I'm still dry from the waist up. But for everyone on the fence about buying it or not...BUY THIS. totally worth it!
I am 6' 185-190 lbs. I purchased the Large to use when I cross country ski. I have skied in this jacket 6 times this winter from temperatures ranging from 8 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit with a smartwool microweight and mid weightbase layer. Both base layers were too warm at 30 degrees but the jacket breathes well so I did not get too wet. The 4 way stretch is my favorite feature of this soft shell. It allows for a full range movement and a non constricting feel. The lighter weight of this jacket works better for active outdoor sports then heavier soft shells like the Apex which I only wear for work. The jacket is windproof and easily sheds snow.
"Amazing! Above and beyond my expectations."

This lightweight softshell is extremely versatile. I am 5'8", 145 lbs, 31" waist and I got a small. Fits perfectly. I have used it for many different occasions and in many different temps. It does not have a heavy lining, but because it blocks the wind so well, it really keeps you warm even when it is cold. When I need a little more warmth, I wear a very lightweight half-zip fleece or I wear a down vest over it. This keeps me really warm. Amazed at how much it blocks out the wind. I really like all of the zippered pockets too. Very happy with the Moosejaw brand. Highly recommend and really dig their website and customer service.
First tried this out during hurricane Sandy in Hoboken, NJ. That's right, we got 3+ feet of flooding with intense wind and on and off rain. This softshell held up like a champ. Traditionally, I've had more expensive Arc'Teryx softshells and used them for everything. Awhile ago I bought my fiancee a Moosejaw brand softshell and instantly grew jealous. The color was cool, the pockets well placed/thought out, the hood adjustable in all of the right places, and it looked just damn comfortable. Well, the men's Scruffy Casella hits all of the same points. It's going to be my workhorse for a good long time. You simply cannot beat this softshell for the price and quality.
This is the second best jacket I have owned, only behind my Patagonia White Smoke jacket. It is great for layering with my North Face TKA 100. Brilliant design. I love the welded seams, the wrist adjustments are great, the hood is comfortable and very adjutable. I would expect to pay well over $200 for a jacket of this qaulity! Nice!

This jacket is super lightweight and provides great movement of my body. The best part is how waterproof it is. I do not have a rain jacket, but I was wearing this and got caught in a storm the other day and I was amazed that I didn't get wet at all. The fit is pretty good, the only that I would improve are the wrist cuffs. They could be tapered and they could have less bulky adjusters... But that is definitely not a deal breaker for this jacket. But the real best part is that my girlfriend started noticing me again.... because I look hot. [ :
I live in Duluth, MN and bought this to replace a Mountain Hardware soft-shell I had. I was expecting a bit heavier weighted jacket, this is going to be great come spring time. However, it is really too thin to layer underneath for me (looks better worn alone). Regardless, the jacket is super waterproof and wind resistant. I'd recommend this to someone in a more modest climate, or for spring/summer wear.

"Amazing Jacket. Big Improvement on MJ's Former Softshell Jacket"

I love this jacket. I bought it in conjunction with the Mystery Gift offer, which I also loved. I previously owned Moosejaw's first attempt at a softshell jacket and was disappointed with that jacket (i.e., it had a pretty poor fit and flow to it). This jacket, on the other hand, took everything wrong about that jacket and made it right. This jacket has the perfect fit and is pretty light weight. I have it in the large and mood indigo color and think that it is accurate to the displayed color and fit.So...Buy It!- LTM
This is an amazing jacket. I bought it on a whim to replace an older soft shell I had been wearing for years. This piece surpasses my expectations. Insanely waterproof, light and warm. I actually bought two. One black, no hood, the other blue with a hood. The black piece is perfect for going out and the blue hooded one has a sportier look and is very functional when raining (and on a bike).Another win by Moosejaw!
