"Bottom line get em."  07/05/08

These boots are awesome. Before hiking in them, I broke them in for about half a week at work. First day I hiked in them, no issues at all...just a 'little' big-toe discomfort, but not enough to really bother me. Waterproof all the way too...it POURED for about two hours and the only reason they got wet on inside was from the socks absorbing water from my legs. Soles are really stiff and the body is stiff, yet slightly pliable. Best purchase Ive made in a while. Make sure you read the shoe size chart though.

"This boot is tough!"  04/10/08

These boots are tough as nails. I've treked in these for 3 or 4 seasons now and they are still holding up well. My one complaint is that I had both laces bust out after around a year of use. Not a problem to replace though. Incredibly waterproof even more than my Scarpa mountaineering boots. My feet still can get a little moist however if using in the snow all day. Check out this pic of my boots after I bagged a peak in WA www.flickr.com/photos/quinnmckee/1430354079/in/set-72157602138066673/ These work great for snowshoeing also!

"Comfy and supportive..... like my favorite underwear."  02/26/08

Although not a super-lightweight boot by any means, it is respectably light enough, yet still offers plenty of support for moderate loads on moderate trails. The Gore-Tex liner does the job it is supposed to, but sweaty feet are an unfortunate side-effect of the leather/Gore-Tex combo.

"Good fit. Great break in. Looks durable."  02/13/08

Wide wide fits great. Quick break in. There is a lack of forefoot cushioning with the original insole, so I had to replace with an aftermarket negating any savings from the Moosejaw sale price the reason for the 4 score. Moosejaw's free shipping is proving to be faster than any of the other web vendors' paid shipping. A real plus! Haven't had to challenge the GTX lining, but given the look of the rest of the boot there will likely be NO PROBLEM!

"Great Boots for elsewhere"  01/28/08

These boots were my first boots. They worked wonderfully. The Gore-Tex aspect of the boots aren't necessary in Michigan hiking, but was extremely useful in the Smokies and the Adirondacks! Loved these boots!

"THE BEST wide size day hikers made."  12/27/07

I bought the wide edition of these boots 2 years ago and I don't have a single complaint. I have tried and purchased other brands wide sizes and none have come close to the comfort and toe room of the Montrail. They have very flexible soles so they are great for day hikes including Whitney. I did a 14 mile mountain trail right out of the box without a single hot spot. There was no break-in needed at all. My only warnings are that I don't recommend them for pack weights above 30 lbs. for more than a day or two. You will feel too many stones through the soles. And they are not made for cold and snowy conditions. So, after 2 years and 30 to 40 mountain day hikes, plus a few overnighters, these

"Simply THE BEST!"  12/11/07

These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Over the past few years I have worn them for everything from the Lost Coast Trail to Mt Whitney, the high Sierra, the Tetons, lots more, packs of 15 to 65, NEVER had a hot spot or blister. Easy to manage the fit with the laces. They still are very serviceable, the only problem I ever had was the toe cap separating a bit. Gorilla glue to the rescue, good as new! I really really love them!

I've had this pair of shoes for over a year. They functioned well. They are perfect for weeklong trail.I ordered the wide edition because they fit me better. The shoes are waterproof, i tested many times and my feet were never wet. Oveall, they're comfortable and worth the money you spent.
