"Cushy ride, random foot pains." |
10/05/08 |
| So I bought these for fast hiking since I hate both running and hiking in boots. When I'm actually hiking in them they're pretty good. Comfortable on downhills, decent grip on a variety of terrain, and waterproof. However, if I'm sitting around with them on (driving, passenger, at work, etc.) I'll get random shooting pains on the bottom or tops of my arches. This also happens sometimes when I start walking. As far as fit goes, I usually wear a 9-9.5 in shoes (9.5 in Salomon XA Pro 3D, La Sportiva Sandstone & B5, Garmont Eclipse & Vasque Sundowner; 9 in 5.10 Guide Tennie & Merrell Chameleon) and had to go to a 10 for a comfortable fit because of the relatively narrow toe-box on these shoes. | |

| Great shoes! This is my second pair of Javas. My first pair lasted 6 years! 6 YEARS! These fit the same as the old ones and look to be just as durable. I can't wait to get on the trail and break them in. | |

"Buy them, love them!" |

| This will be the third pair of Java's that I have purchased. I have walked through the bottom of the previous pairs. They are very stable in an assortment of terrain. I have used them for backpacking, hiking, outdoor lousy weather work, and even added a gaiter and use them for snowshoeing. Durability is outstanding, previous pairs have lasted me multiple years at a time. I can't express how much I love this shoe! | |

| Bought this shoe as a Hiker/Runner. So far I love it ,and Yup the Gore tex works! It was very nice to have hinking in spring runoff and snowdrifts. The only bad thing I could say is that initially the goretex made the shoes a little tough to break in. | |

"Highly recommended" |

| I have owned & worn out several previous versions of the Montrail XCR shoe. I love this shoe -- it is well balanced, stable, and very comfortable. The Gortex lining is a real plus for hiking through shallow streams like the one running along the sidewalk in front of my house as the snow melts. The shoe provides ample room in the toe box while holding my heel in place I have narrow heels, so this is a real plus. This is the main shoe I wear every day as well as what I wear for light weight hiking through any terrain. | |
