Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Shoe But Doesn't Last I love this shoe but I was starting to see the beginning of holes in them by the end of the first month- about 30 miles a week. The actual shoe: the drop is much lower and takes more adjustment than most new shoes would but I once I adjusted, I love them. I'm getting holes in two places on these, the insides where my foot bends (between the ball and arch) and over my big toe (this one is going much faster and yes, my nails are clipped). It hasn't ripped all the way through yet but there is no coating left on the inside, just the harder meshy stuff. I've never had a hole in a running shoe from in the toe before so this seems weird to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a Nike free except BETTER! I bought these with a little skepticism. Before I had these shoes I had a pair of Nike Free 5.0s. BUT they did not have enough support for the amount of running I was doing for Cross Country. I personally hate running shoes because they are so bulky and tend to be dorky. I got a pair of the Sayonara's in White. I LOVE THEM! They are exactly what I hoped they would be. These shoes are not bulky at all, lighter than my Nike Frees, and they look pretty good for running shoes that aren't Nike Frees. I have had no problems with these shoes and have ran about 150 miles on them in a month. They are a GREAT PAIR! I will definitely buy another pair once I'm due for a new pair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Holes everywhere!! I bought these shoes less than 3 months ago and the toe mesh has so many holes that they are now almost un-wearable (my toes are coming out when I run). I've had 4 pairs of the Mizuno Wave Riders but switched to the Sayonara after the new Wave Rider 17's came out because I found the 17's extremely uncomfortable. I run about 40 miles a week but I've never had a shoe come apart as quickly as the Sayonara did, in fact most of my old Wave Riders are still very much intact. I am pretty disappointed that Mizuno would make such a poorly constructed shoe. Guess it's time for a new brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wear poorly I've been running in Mizunos for years. Since Mizuno stopped making the Wave Ascend, I tried out the Sayonara. I've never been less satisfied with a pair of Mizunos. The shoes are already wearing out - a hole in the toe of the right one, worn souls. I'd never buy these again and I definitely would not recommend them. Mizuno should bring back the Wave Ascend and stop making the Sayonara. Just ordered a different pair of Mizunos. Hope they are a drastic improvement over the Sayonaras. If not, I'll be switching to a different brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoe but not lasting... Being a cross country runner, I wanted a lightweight shoe for the shorter, faster workouts. The Sayonara seemed perfect. It fit like a dream, was super light, and ran in them for fast intervals and hills. I saved my trusty Wave Riders for the long distance runs and other distance workouts. However, after a little more than a month, I started to notice holes on either side of the shoe, in the toe box. Now they are broken down, and I only use them for walking my dogs. I just wish they lasted longer, especially for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Round 2!!! This is the second time I have bought these shoes. I love them! I didn't start to feel any pain in my legs until I had at least 500 miles on them. Which is great! It's the first time I have ever had a pair of running shoes without getting an injury. I just bought them again and they are definitely the best running shoes for me. I would recommend these to anyone who has been fitted to wear a stability/neutral shoe. They are lighter than Nike Frees, have more support, and not as bulky. THE BEST SHOE!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for shorter races!!! I am a race/speed walker and the Wave Sayonara were awesome for my 10K race, they were U4ic!! I did a half on the weekend and by the 14K mark, fatigue in the feet and legs started to creep in. This was not the normal end of race "I am pooped" weariness and is the first time in all the twelve 1/2s I have completed, that this has occurred. I am sorry to say that I will keep the sayonaras for the shorter races but go back to the Wave Rider 16s for anything longer than 10K.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just ok I bought the Sayonara as the Mizuno-recommended replacement for the discontinued Elixir 7 and 8. I am a marathon runner. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Elixir and I would decribe the Sayonara as "just ok". They are definitely a completely different fit and feel -- not bad but definitely not anything like the Elixir and not nearly as comfortable - much stiffer and tighter in the toe box. Please bring back the Elixir!!
